“Set up was easy for the initial linking to home assistant. And its amazing to finally have a private, local voice assistant. Though figuring out the right trigger words is going to take some practice, which in one sense is a bit annoying, but actually I can see how - once in the process of configuring these and customising, the potential is incredible... I've just not quite got round to that stage just yet, but looking forward to digging into it all... In the meantime it turns off the lights/switches and plays music (when I get the command right) from music assistant set up to use my navidrome”
“Fairly easy to set up, but was really slow to respond. About 13 seconds! Turns out it was a home assistant issue that has been resolved.
I would have thoght that being local, it would have more voices.”
“Device arrived quickly, no damage and well packaged.
Installation was a bit challanging particulary if you are running your home assistant under NAS, had to reflash the device to put connect to wifi manually, lack of power cable was a bit unexpected thankfully had one.
Device is not biggest so can be placed almost anywhere and looks quite nice with spinner dial to volume and manual engagement of VA. Speakers are a bit too small and not sure if it's physical microphones or backend processing causing issues in voice recognition.
As it says it is still preview and early stage it has long road ahead in compariso to alexa and echo its night and day.”
“I've given 4 stars based on potential. This isn't a plug and play device and needs time and effort to get the best from it. I now have it working reasonably well with ChatGPT but it isn't (yet) comparable to Alexa or Google devices. Physically not the most attractive device but solidly built. Perfectly adequate for a preview device. In its current state, it is a fascinating, fun device. But, in time (not long I suspect) I'm confident that the finished product will eclipse the competition.”
