“Defective rotary encoder – The encoder I received has significant bounce, which I mostly managed to fix in code. However, the push button does not work at all. I've had great experiences with other Pimoroni products, but unfortunately this one seems faulty. I’d really appreciate a refund or a replacement if possible. Thanks!”
Ahoy Tony,
Sorry to hear that - please drop an email to our support team at support@pimoroni.com with these photos and we'll get that sorted out for you.
“I have not used it yet but they are in perfect condition, as per the specifications on the item page. I’m also looking forward to building them into my projects.”
“In answer to the reviewer who complains of contact bounce, all mechanical encoders bounce. Properly designed software allows for this, achieving excellent results.”
“Fast delivery, no surprises, as usual.
Once the encoder was soldered to the breakout[1] and wired to an Arduino, I copied/pasted the example code and all worked fine.
Endlessly turning the encoder and using the integrated button provides quite a large amount of satisfaction, use with moderation ;)

“Hopeless! The rotary encoder has so much bounce that it is impossible to use for this function. (I'ved them before and have other makes working perfectly.) The switch and LEDs work properly but soldering up the pins without the proper board is quite tricky.”
“Nice little encoder with pushbutton. LED/Switch pins not being in the 2.54 spacing makes it a bit hard to use on a breadboard, but nothing some creative pin header soldering can't fix. LED colour accuracy is not the best.”
