Great little board to use for robotic projects. I use the one I bought to control a stepper motor for focussing a telescope. However, the board will control both stepper and DC motors with an easy to use library. Small amount of soldering the header connectors on, but nothing too taxing.

Very disappointed with this product. After spending hours to debug why my stepper motors were extremely hot and not working I did found on forums that this HAT only supports motors with an internal resistance of at least 10 Ohms but that's nowhere specified in the datasheet or product specification. Most usual stepper motors are less than 5 Ohms. I had to buy another controller for my motors so just wasted my money for nothing.

Simple to set up using the guide on the Pimoroni website. Unlike the L298N this HAT uses PWM so the system has fewer problems with overheating and this HAT can also drive the stepper motor in several different modes some of which are higher speed and others make smaller more precise movements.

Great item, just plug it in, grab the routines (instructions on the Adafruit website), and away you go.
