I work as an arborist and was looking for a saw to use at home in a domestic setting to process fire wood and this saw is perfect for that. The saw is very quiet and the battery lasts longer than I expected, I can usually produce enough log rounds to stack a pallet two layers high on a single charge. I would highly recommend it for any similar application but for more industrial applications I would stick to a petrol saw as they do have more torque and a faster cutting speed making them safer when felling and allow for a higher work rate. In summary, if you already have Makita batteries and want a saw for light/domestic use or if noise is a concern I would happily recommend this saw.

Great tool, well balanced with good power. The freedom of a petrol saw but without having to mix 2 stroke and and pull start it. A pair of 5Ah batteries give about 30min cutting time, more than enough for most jobs.

Wow. Add 2 x 5ah batteries and it’s torque-y as anything. Far less fuss than starting up my Stihl for a few short jobs. Love it. I presume the difference between this one and the 353 is that this one needs a box wrench to adjust the chain tension, which is fine by me.
