Absolutely chews through batteries. Therefore not really suitable for anything other than very light work.

It is well made as you would expect of a Makita product. Otger wise I would give zero star. The issue with this product is that I cannot think of a single use for it. I bought it to use on a heat shrinkable closure in a confined space but it is totally useless. You certainly couldn't strip paint with it or use it as any kind of substitute for a mains powered heat gun. I might as well bin it because it will never be used again. I would waste my time trying.

Lets face it, expecting a heat gun to be much good on batteries was a hope too far! It can just about cope with heat shrink tubing (just). For my applications I'd rather they increased the heat output at the expense of battery life (though the current draw may be at max already!) I'm using it with new 5AH batteries (18v) and they don't last long at all. It's just about handy enough to forgive its short comings but only just. Perhaps more concentrated heat coming from a smaller aperture would have been more practical considering this is a battery device...

The device is of the normal high quality in terms of build and features but unfortunately, just doesnt pack the punch needed to work effectively. I have had to resort back to my corded heat gun for heat shrink tubing as the cordless one is simply not powerful to operate at speed.

A well designed Heat gun, the cordless feature is the obvious benefit but I feel the actual heat output on the maximum setting is quite lacking compared to previous mains powered heat guns that I have used. A little bit of a disappointment and I'll probably keep the old mains heat gun for back up. I can still see plenty of uses for this and I've no regrets to the purchase it has good variable control settings and will be perfect for defrosting frozen pipes and more gentle heat work, I won't be wasting my time stripping paint with it though just doesn't have that power.

The biggest waste of money I've ever spent on a makita tool .. I know with battery power it's going to be less powerful than electric ... But this is ridiculous... you'd be a lifetime stripping a door with it and of course it eats batteries .... Don't bother .
