This must be one of the poorest quality tools that DeWalt makes. I have a lot of DeWalt tools and they are really great. They are well designed, built with good quality and have well thought out ergonomics. This Pole Hedge Trimmer is nothing like other DeWalt tools: It feels flimsy in the hand, like a really cheap far-eastern copy of a good tool. When pushing gently against the hedge in order to make a cut, the pole bends in the middle and feels like it's going to snap (mine hasn't yet). The bending is due to a join in the middle of the shaft which only seems to be there to allow it to break into two for shipping. It has poor ergonomics, all the weight of the tool is at the cutting end (where the motor is) which means that it's difficult to handle and tiring to use. The poor balance makes it really difficult to use the length of the pole because it's almost impossible to hold it at arms length for a useful amount of time. It comes with a shoulder strap which only supports the weight of the light end of the pole which is useless. I took this off because I didn't feel safe having it attached to me all the time. It consumes a lot of power, so it uses up a 5Ah battery really quickly. It took 3 full charges to cut my hedges (I also have the DCMHT562 and I can cut my hedges with that using only one 5Ah battery). In summary: Does it cut hedges? - Yes. It's powerful and has a sharp cutting edge and copes with anything that fits into the cutting comb. Would I buy it again? - No. Would I recommend it to others? - No.

A good powerful hedge cutter with excellent battery life when used with 5Ah batteries. Good maximum diameter cutter and super sharp blades. Only let down is that, as others have noted, the head adjustment is not very robust and tends to wobble about a bit when tackling more challenging hedge growth. The metal used for teh angle adjustment is far too thin and I am sure will wear further with time.

This is a good product. Easy to use and does what is says. Only minor issue is the head is not as solid when cutting I have not found out why yet. but it did the job well.

I wanted a telescopic hedge cutter, whereas the description on power tool world described it as a ‘pole’ I had checked other descriptions and this model was referred to as ‘telescopic’. My initial view was to return it however eventually decided to keep it. Glad I did it is a fantastic hedge trimmer. Matched it with a 5ah battery and I cannot fault it, the run time is very impressive, reasonably light to use ( I’m 70 with rheumatoid arthritis) but what do you expect from De Walt products

This pole hedge trimmer is not fit for purpose. Sent to be repaired after a couple of uses. The returned item lasted a little longer. But I have been told by Dewalt that they only warranty repairs for 6 months. This item has been used for about 2 hours in total since the repair.

I found this tool underpowered and not Professional as rated. Powertool world confirmed this is not a petrol tool replacement and also dont like you returning a product when you dont believe it can do the Job. The adjustment on the head is flimsy and wobbles left to right, i only used it for 10 minutes and then gave up. I bought the 54v version from another dewalt retailer and it is perfect. I am now in a battle to get a refund from Powertool world who have sent the product to Dewalt to see if it is working correctly? If it is they will return it to me or charge me 30% restocking fee? I have never reported it broken, just not man enough as advertised. Shame on you Powertool world.

I sent this back and got a refund (thank you Powertool World for being quick with this) as the trimmers are badly weighted and the shoulder strap is ineffective in relieving back and arm strain. I then bought Bosch telescopic hedge trimeers which are much easier and pleasant to use.
