The room was nice and clean with a full size bath, the manager on reception was very polite and welcoming, food was excellent and prices reasonable. No pub garden to take the dogs at night but there were areas within walking distance if the dogs needed a night time wee. Some of the staff were very attentive and gave brilliant service. We did raise this as an issue that we had no dog beds, bowls or treats in the room as stated. Bed was comfortable and night time was quiet. Long stay local parking was £4 for 23 hours and we felt that is was a safe place. Lots of lovely long walks. Would go there again.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Such a shame that the food lets this otherwise perfect dog (and people!) friendly hotel down
Hotel decor is modern and pleasant. As others have said, room was on the small side and had no traditional window, just a very high skylight, so summer will be very warm! Fortunately, we stayed in October so was fine and we only use room for sleeping etc, so size was not an issue. Rooms were modern, nicely decorated and immaculately clean and to repeat; all the young ladies serving were really lovely, the only thing that let it down was the food, which was pricey and just not great (overcooked burger, totally uninspiring Sunday lunch and flaccid, precooked bacon for breakfast), so would definitely stay again, but just go to the Oliver Cromwell (just round the corner) for proper food made with love!

Spent a two night break with friends and our dog. Extremely dog friendly hotel with a treat and ball in the room. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean and all the staff without exception were extremely polite and helpful.

Quite impressed with the GoldenLion. Very friendly staff, hotel has been done very nicely. Good was very good. Dog friendly. The only do.losing was our room was a bit on the small side, quite compact, considering we had our dog with us. Looking forward to trying The Talbot in Malton inlays August(also part of Coaching Inn Group)

On entering the hotel the wonderful air conditioning was a blessing in the exceptionally hot weather. Our first impressions were very good, with very pleasant decor and a nice ambience. However, on receiving our key and taking our case up to the first floor a wall of heat hit us and it was obvious that air conditioning was lacking here. On entering our room an oscillating fan was on and trying to keep the room cool but the small size of the room and south-facing aspect negated it. We realise that the heat wave was exceptional in this period in the south and southeast. If this floor was air-conditioned as on the ground floor of the hotel then there would have been no problem with the heat. Our second point is on behalf of our poor dog who not only suffered the exhaustive heat with us but was wearing a fur coat too. He had no space to move around even after we moved a couple of pieces of small furniture and we worried for him frankly. We must add that the hotel, the staff and the meals were of good quality and all tried to ensure we had a good stay.

Dear Mr Mitchell Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I am so glad to hear your experience was as good as it could be under the circumstances of this heatwave! Best wishes Codie
