Did you and your dog receive a warm welcome? yes
Did you feel your stay was good value for money? no
Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I’d like the option as a dog owner to go into all of the restaurants given it’s supposed to be a dog friend hotel!
The location of lodore falls is nothing short of spectacular. The grounds and the walks you can do around the countryside were so easily accessible and beautiful. The rooms in the hotel are a little outdated and it was really hot as we stayed in July and there was no air con! They could definitely use a revamp. The hotel also claims to be doggy friendly, but I’d actually say it’s not as dog friendly as you might think. We had to eat all our meals in the lounge and weren’t allowed in any of the restaurants which was disappointing. The food was delicious and the service was good too - friendly and attentive.

Did you and your dog receive a warm welcome? no
Did you feel your stay was good value for money? no
Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Better staff, Better dog lounge, less secret costs, more honesty, air conditioning,
First of all, I’m not one for writing reviews (positive or negative) but the price of this hotel just begs for an honest reaction. I just want to say that the hotels location is great! Me and my partner stayed here with our little Shorkie and the walks to Keswick were lovely … but anywhere you stay around the Lake District will offer this much. We arrived 5 minutes before the check in time and were told to sit in the dog lounge and await an update, we waited for more than an hour before heading to desk to ask again … the lady openly admitted to forgetting we were waiting and that the room was ready soon after we arrived. This was a recurring theme. Each morning our breakfast in the lounge was the same, me and my partner played games to see if we would be forgotten and this ended up being the only positive experience we could muster. The staff were genuinely rude and we couldn’t figure out why, other guests at the hotel thought the same as we started chatting to more and more people about it. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels but nothing quite as blatant as this. You HAVE to pay an extra £50 just to use the spa for an hour which is ridiculous … and the invoice at the end of the trip added duplicates of items we had only ordered once. They gave us water without question as dinner and then charged us £5 for each time we had water. The main problem with this hotel is the extra costs on EVERYTHING … as if the rooms weren’t expensive enough already … there was no air conditioning (we had to ask for a fan at the desk multiple times before actually being able to take one). The tables in the dog lounge were basically floor height so you’ll find yourself aching after every meal. Overall, please take my word for it … find a different hotel … there’s so many others that are in better locations, have better food, are cheaper, actually care about your dog(s), aren’t full of rude staff, won’t have as many secret charges … and you’ll love the area because of it. No one wants a bad hotel … don’t settle for this disgrace.

We visited thd Lodore falls hotel in Borrowdale for the second time to celebrate our birthdays. It was recently and unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to the coronavirus outbreak. Up until then it was the same as always, rooms spotlessly clean and adorned with beds and bowls for our dogs, even a card and box of chocs (long since eaten!) for our birthdays. We love the location of the hotel and the spacious comfortable bar area, we also love the seperate doggy dining area complets with a roaring fire. This really is a place where you and your beloved fur baby need never be separated and the staff are always cheerful and welcoming. The night that the shutting of all restaurants etc was announced, the staff continued to work and behave as normal which must have been incredibly difficult and nobody knew what was going on and whether their jobs were safe. We just cannot wait for normality to return and to go back to the Lodore, we hope that all there and at Pets Pyjamas will survive this crisis and look forward to rebooking in thd future.

This is a gorgeous hotel in such an idyllic location. Perfect for our cockapoo Oakleigh, who was welcomed by all staff members, he had a beautiful joules bed and bowls on arrival and the view from his room was superb! The facilities are great, although Oakleigh wasn’t allowed in the 2 main restaurants, he was allowed in the library which you could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in. The hotel are happy for you to leave your pooch in the hotel room so you can still enjoy dining in the restaurants or the fantastic spa facilities. The walks from the hotel doorstep are just perfect! The only negative which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the dog exercise area is across the road with no lighting, so at nighttime when you take your dog to the toilet it is pitch black. So some lighting would be great! Luckily a hotel staff member lent us his torch!

The Hotel setting and views were beautiful. The food was excellent, our room was pleasant, The staff were pleasant, however we were disappointed by a few things hence the 3 star rating, i.e. The car park was on the other side of the road and on a blind bend, we felt excluded when eating our dinner as we were not allowed in the restaurant or bar area with the dog but had to stay in a side area which was nice but only had low tables and were on our own for our first night also we were charged a supplement for ordering the steak which was not mentioned at the time of ordering, when quired at reception we were told it was on the menu and we should have read it, finally when working our dog we found numerous restriction signs on the hotel grounds even not allowing us to view the falls.

Our two pups absolutely loved their stay and were made to feel very welcome. The location is stunning and there are plenty of lovely walks to enjoy in such a picturesque area. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the dog-friendly lounge area. The spa was beautiful, but we were disappointed to find out that this was an additional cost on top of what we had already paid to stay. We also felt that the customer service was lacking and felt as though we were being a bit of an inconvenience when asking if we could book to use the spa, as they explained they might not have availability. Fortunately they did and the spa facilities are top notch, albeit an additional £50 to use them on top of £265 felt quite steep. The room itself was very tired and dated. We clearly stayed in the part of the hotel yet to be renovated and didn’t feel it was worth the price tag. We also dined in the Mizu restaurant and, as keen lovers of Japanese/Asian-inspired food, we were very excited to try it! The starters were fab, but the main meals were appalling. One of the meals we opted for was lamb cutlets and the meat was disgusting. The waitress was apologetic and said that the supplier had stated the lamb was “edible”. Not really the quality of food you’d expect to receive for a rather expensive restaurant and supposedly high end restaurant. The fact that the hotel was doggy friendly and the spa was gorgeous are the only reason why the score is a 4. If it was based on the hotel alone, it would have been a 3 and wouldn’t have rated in terms of value for money. That said, we made the most of our time away and the dogs certainly enjoyed it, but can’t say we would be in a rush to return.

Spent a lovely weekend at Lodore Falls to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hotel is excellent and caters very well for dogs. Our labrador, Shadow loved the comfy bed provided and the location for some great walks (even in the January weather). Food was very good and staff were friendly and attentive.

From start to finish the weekend at Lodor Falls Hotel was wonderful. When we arrived at the hotel the reception staff were so thorough going through what to expect at the hotel and it did not disappoint. There were fabulous walks surrounding the hotel even though the weather wasn't on our side. Our dog Wilbur was welcomed with open arms, he was treat like a prince, i'm surprised he wanted to come home. It was extremely helpful that reception had towels to dry the dog off and offered a lovely dining experience in a lounge especially for pet owners. We had the dinner, bed and breakfast offer over 2 days and we were pleasantly surprised that the menu changed on the second night so we had an abundance of choice. The staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much to ask for. We would happily reccommend this hotel to our friends and family.
