The research done in this book is incredible. It brings new light on the many commanders forgotten more or less on the German side. It puts you in the thinking or both sides and allows you to see whats going on in very clear detail. Many books dont go into this depth, it uses everything it can photos, maps and most importanty war diaries. The is something you read after the classic "It Never snows in September by Kershaw" it strips and build up how these units (Many of them) were structured and shows how close to one division was about to go on back to Germany before the drop. The amount of units sent towards the West as Market Garden kicked off showed that Germany could mobilse its OKW reserves and still react very well to certain types of Operations, particulary a Airborne and Ground one on a limited corridor. The British war Diary of the Royal Artillery too helps build on the chaos of the fighting in the days as the Oosterbeek Kessel is destroyed. I welcome books like this. There are dozens of books on Arnhem but this adds detail to a tough battle. Photos and Orbats stand out in this book, so overall a detailed book on German Amoured units fighting at Arnhem.
