This is an essential purchase for anybody interested in the Panther Tank story. The main portion of the book that interested me is the 100 or so pages devoted entirely to individual factory applied paint schemes. There are 4 view color plans of each scheme along with implementation timelines which are very handy for determining a vehicles likely production date and which of the factories produced it. All of the different zimmerit patterns are discussed and there is a handy guide from which you can deduce which factory used which pattern. I am working backwards here in my review mainly because the second half of the book was the highlight for me and i am more interested in the Panther G at the moment but there are so many nuggets of new information regarding the Panther D & A. This is not a book full of combat photos but there is a large photo content which mainly dwells on the smaller details and fittings associated with the various marks of Panther Along with Jenz/Doyles 'Combat supremacy' and the 'Panzer Tracts' series on the Panther 'External appearance and design' brings the Panther story as up to date as can be. Sadly Roddy Macdougall passed away a couple of years ago and Martin Block is not currently on the scene as far as i can tell. These two were among the most active Panther researches so the book is a testament to both of them and of course many others who contributed in the online forums that i frequented over the years. I don't usually buy expensive books but this one is worth every penny of its cover price.
