Courtesy of IL Motorsport in Germany this mobile phone mount has been developed exclusively for the MX5 Mk4 and comes complete with a universal mount suitable for any mobile phone. Requiring no drilling or gluing, it is an easy installation that takes minutes and will leave no marks once removed. To install read the following steps:- pull lower right side of the dashboard (right beside the centre console) towards you in a short pull, creating a small gap big enough to insert the metal hook supplied with this kit.- insert the metal hook sideways between the lower part of the dashboard and the upper part, next to the shiny black plastic of the centre console vents.- turn the hook 90° and pull to check if hooks snaps into place and holds position correctly- push the lower part of the dashboard back into the original position- position the phone mount over the extending hook on the dashboard and put the supplied nut on the hook part and screw hand tight.- check if the console sits tightly and adjust if necessary- mount the supplied universal phone holder and enjoy! Please Note: The iPhone in the picture is NOT included!!Fits all right hand drive Mk4 & RF models, 2015>

After having a vent-mounted phone holder in place for a couple of years and realising that it had dented the dashboard crash pad where it'd been resting on it, I replaced with dash pad with alcantara and, at the same time installed this. It is brilliant and well worth the money as you can get an exceptionally neat install once you realise that the ball and socket has what seems to be the standard 16mm ball on it. So, you can pull the ugly phone holder section off and replace it with a more aesthetic or functional holder from Amazon. I have a flat magnetic-mount face plate on mine, and a metal sticker inside my phone case. Rock solid and, if you position the sticker right, you can slide the phone up so the top is more or less aligned with the top of the infotainment display. Very neat. Well worth it.

Fitting was easy and the build quality seems good with one exception. The cradle is slightly different from the image on the site and there is plenty of space to plug in the charging cable. Disappointed that the holder droops after driving for a while. The weight of the phone seems to be too much for the ball joint that holds the cradle even though it's fully tightened. I will try putting a thin fabric over the ball joint to see if the friction can be improved.

Great piece of kit! Great quality! Looks like it should always have been there. Very simple to fit, but the YouTube video does help. Also, exceptional customer service from MX5parts when I needed their help with a part. Thank you!

A good item but no fitting instructions supplied and the advice on the MX5parts web site does not make sense unless you already know what it means. To install: (1) Sit in the passenger seat and reach down to the bottom edge of the fascia moulding in the passenger foot well. (2) Grasp the moulding at its corner next to the transmission tunnel and pull the moulding firmly towards you to release its retaining clip. (3) Locate the small gap created to the left of the rectangular air vent and insert the wire linkage (supplied) here. (4) Rotate the wire linkage to lock it behind the fascia moulding and then push the moulding back to engage its clips again. (5) Remove the nut from the wire linkage, place the base of the phone holder over the linkage and reinstall the nut. Tighten the nut using the screwdriver (supplied). (6) Install the top of the phone holder onto the base. To be honest, the instructions need a couple of photographs, one to show where to grasp the fascia moulding and another showing where the wire linkage needs to go into the fascia. Or perhaps a short "how-to" video on YouTube with a link.

Main body looks great fits perfect on dash and looks factory fitted but actual phone holder is cheap and will hold judgement on how long it lasts , where talking the most expensive phone holder I've seen and for the money it should have been much better quality simply because its be opened and shut many times in its life to get the phone out. What I want to know is if it fails where do u get a replacement

Too expensive, but the best will cost! Perfect for the car, simple to fit, if you watch the YouTube video & pull the dashboard outwards NOT down! It looks like it grew there, rather than an aftermarket part. Very pleased.
