Genuine Mazda Part
Genuine Mazda original equipment replacement battery made by Panasonic. Made for the MX-5, this 32AH gel battery measures 235mm in length, by 125mm in depth and 160mm in height and has a cold crank amp rating of 326CCA.
Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005
Please Note: As with all gel batteries, they must not be jump started. Any damage caused by doing this will not be covered under warranty. We recommend the use of a good quality battery conditioner / trickle charger such as the Optimate 4 when the car isn't being used. It is also advisable to fit a battery cut off switch to isolate it completely for prolonged periods.
Also, due to airline regulations concerning the transport of dangerous goods, we are unable to send these batteries outside of Europe by air. If you are in any doubt as to whether you are affected by this, please contact us before placing your order.

“Our MX-5 has a small OEM Panasomic battery fitted, and these smaller batteries will tend to self-discharge quite quickly if not continually topped up from the alternator or a battery conditioner. They also charge quite slowly as well, so as to not risk damage to the gel innards. They should not be connected for a jump start either, for the same reasons. Those potential problems notwithstanding, with care we have managed to keep our first battery, that came with the car in 1998, the last year of the MX-5 Mk1, in good condition. We wanted a drop-in replacement that didn't need a new battery tray or cables/pipes arrangement, so for peace of mind at some extra expense, we went original.”

“These batteries need to be looked after carefully if they are to last a long time. You will need a special charger, and never ever let them run flat. The Cobra alarm system on my vehicle had a standing load capable of draining the battery in a few days, if I forgot to put it in trickle charge. Definitely not good. PS. I've subsequently removed the Cobra alarm.”

“I have a Mk 2.5 that still had the original battery (20 years old) that finally died - Decided to purchase an original replacement and it could not have been an easier swap - Battery delivered from MX5 Parts in a couple of days and arrived in perfect condition - Well worth paying a little more for a original replacement..”

“Usual great service from MX5 parts. Good to get the original battery battery back in the car in place of the bodged in standard battery that shouldn’t have been there. Fitted perfectly and spun the engine over strongly. I’ll be sure to keep a battery conditioner connected to the car while it’s not in use as it’s important to keep these gel batteries fully charged at all times.”

“OEM battery lasted about 5 years , due to me letting it go totally flat , now with an Optimate , the present one has lasted over 10 years , forgot to fit Optimate and paid for it as the car sat unused for over 3 weeks .So hopefully another 10+ years service from the one on order”
