Battery Cut Off Switch MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 Reviews

Here's a great idea!Does your battery keep going flat when you haven't used your car for a while? Fed up with disconnecting your battery when you put your car away? Then we have the product for you. This great little switch can be fitted directly to the negative terminal of the battery, and with one easy twist it can be connected and disconnected in seconds. It can also serve two purposes. If the supplied fused link is used, it acts as an immobiliser. Once the cut off switch is disconnected it will still continue to supply power through the link, unless the starter motor is operated, when the fuse will blow making it impossible to start the car. If used without the fused link, it will cut all power to the car, preserving the battery, and ensuring your car will start again when you want it to!These fit perfectly to the Mk1, whilst the Mk2/2.5 will require a small piece of the cardboard battery cover to be removed so it will sit flush. It can not however be used on the Mk3, as the standard battery comes with the smaller post terminals.

A great idea. Fitted well to my Mk1, although I did put it on upside down to start with so nothing worked, swopped over and it works great. I like the additional security and for the money, it's a no-brainer, peace of mind was rarely this cheap (less than a bottle of Lidl Scotch).

Installed this in my MK2.5 (NB-FL) in about 5 minutes, took another 5 minutes to drill a neat hole in the cardboard cover that rests on top / over of the battery (my battery is a Westco). Works perfectly! I did install the fuse that was supplied (with 3 spare fuses) to retain the mileage on the trip odometer when the switch is off. When switched on, the engine starts immediately, so no negative effects there. Disconnecting the battery with this switch is a matter of turning the switch round once or twice.

My original brass clamp was very loose on this and would not clamp tight, perhaps it's stretched by being over tightened at some point in the past, overcame it by drilling straight through the clamp and using the nut & bolt supplied.Overall a good product at a reasonable price, just wish I'd bought one before killing the wesco!

Found this item did not work on my Mk2.5 as the clamp rides up the tapered negative battery terminal on tightening. Concept\'s good and have fitted it successfully to a friends car (not an MX5)Editors note: All standard battery terminals are the same size and shape so this should fit. We have them fitted to our own cars and also a family members Mk2.5 and they all work perfectly. Should you ever need any help with fitting any of our products, please don\'t hesitate to contact a member of the sales team who will be more than happy to assist.
