Here's a great idea!Does your battery keep going flat when you haven't used your car for a while? Fed up with disconnecting your battery when you put your car away? Then we have the product for you. This great little switch can be fitted directly to the negative terminal of the battery, and with one easy twist it can be connected and disconnected in seconds.It can also serve two purposes. If the supplied fused link is used, it acts as an immobiliser. Once the cut off switch is disconnected it will still continue to supply power through the link, unless the starter motor is operated, when the fuse will blow making it impossible to start the car. If used without the fused link, it will cut all power to the car, preserving the battery, and ensuring your car will start again when you want it to!These fit perfectly to the Mk1, whilst the Mk2/2.5 will require a small piece of the cardboard battery cover to be removed so it will sit flush. It can not however be used on the Mk3, as the standard battery comes with the smaller post terminals.

“I bought this item at the same time as buying a Westco battery and both items arrived a day later as usual.However when I came to fit the item, the clamp fitting of the switch did not fit the battery terminal as it was too small.As the item is machined from a solid piece of brass, there is little movement in the clamp and hence the clamp cannot be opened up to fit.I have therefore reluctantly asked for a refund as I cannot fit it. This is the reason for the very low rating.”

“This is really a very nice product. The placement was made within 10 minutes and applied perfectly. There was no transformation in the car, and no wires are cut. The product is perfect for me, because I use the car a bit, and stay several days in the garage. So I do not need any more tools to connect and disconnect the battery and the cover is always in place in my MK 1.”

“Extremely disappointed !!! I ordered this product with several other Parts. delivery was quick to France. BUT I am EXTREMELY disappointed Parts of this electric. The latter arrived home damaged / bent and cracked. Yet cardboard my order was no shock and this emballade Parts for electric battery was intact. yet the Parts is delivered already damaged (I have the evidence photos) Considering the price the cost of return ports, I'm not about to be references to gage if I MX5 shares for EIMBURSEMENT. MX5 may be able to share something?This means that there is a storage problem or manufacture of this product. I am extremely disappointed. so I lost € 14.96 ...”

“Fitted to a mk2.5 in 5 mins. No need to modify anything, just unclamped the negative terminal and attached both points to this. Easy! Would recommend”

“This took a while to fit to my Mk2.5. I had to cut off negative earth battery fitting cap from the car's loom to allow the negative earth lead to bolt on to the cut off switch terminal or it would have looked like a right dog's breakfast. The earth lead now fits to the underside of the cut off switch and an added bonus was that I did not have to cut a hole in the hardboard battery cover as the on/off switch sits flush just under the cover. All in all, a bit of a work up to fit neatly, but a good bit of kit.”

“This is a useful switch, especially with the low-amp, fused by-pass. However, in order to make it really useful, for c. £2 extra, the kit needs to include a simple toggle switch to disable the fused by-pass so that the battery can be totally isolated for periods of non-use. Now, that would be REALLY useful. I shall be modifying mine.”
