I purchased a set of these a few years ago and they are great for closing the gap either side of the roof when down so that leaves and debris can’t get in the side gaps. As well as being functional they look so much smarter with these fitted compared to the ugly gaps without. I recently purchased another set as I lost one cover while driving (probably didn’t clip it on properly!). I note that the new ones are now fitted with a pull ring to assist with removal which is an improvement. I only take my MX5 out when I can drive with the hood down so for me these covers are essential! I have purchased lots of kit off MX5 parts over the last twelve years and have always received great service!

After a mail towards MX5parts of not having the the manual/instructions how to mount these covers, they send ASAP the instructions per mail. Good service.

Superb quality, allegedly tricky to install, but I found it easy: remove 2 plastic clips from behind each seat, lift off the plastic seatbelt guide, pre-fit to check the fit of the metal support, fit fasteners, replace plastic seatbelt guides and clips then install covers. All a perfect fit and completed in 20 minutes. Do not force anything, it should come apart easily.

It needed a bit, quite a bit, of the seat belt plastic cover to be trimmed off to accommodate the brackets which support the fastners on each side. Once I'd summed up the courage to do this, the covers fitted well and they do tidy up what is, otherwise, an untidy corner once the roof is down. I'm not sure if I'll have the patience to fit them every time i drop the roof, time will tell I guess. Fortunately, my car is really only a toy, so I can borrow my wife's SUV if rain threatens.

These certainly finish the look of my MX5, covering the large voids either side of the folded down roof. Fitting is actually rather easy once you have had a good look for a few minutes ( In fact there really is only one way they fit properly), although I would recommend a hat or similar to catch the inevitable dropped nut or washer, never to be seen again. I don't intend putting the roof up and down very often, so removing and fitting them again is not a problem for me, but they must be removed before putting the roof up.

One of the first things i bought after buying my 5 to stop any leaves or the like falling in and blocking the drains again plus when fitted with the roof down looks great! So much so my bro-in-law purchased a set for his 05 launch edition.
