The sound is reasonable. It's nice to have some exhaust noise in my previously mute NC1, but it seems a bit boomy at low revs and seems to decrease in volume as revs rise. However, after a month on the car, I've noticed that the hangers and welds are all really heavily tarnished, to the point that there's a dribble of rust running down from each hanger towards the ground.I purchased the exhaust second-hand but new/boxed/unfitted from another owner so sadly I suspect I won't have any support from MX5parts.Also worth noting that according to the manufacturer/importer IL Motorsport, this exhaust does not have TUV approval in Germany.

warning - do NOT buy it for NC Mk3.5I'm summer 2015, ONE year ago, we mounted this Rear Silencer. Easy to fit, but it's NOT far away from The bumper and after ONE week, i discovered that has BURNED a Big HOLE in both sides of the bumper. help my bumper melts the new pot fits with orginal suspension, but hangs further inside the car so that the exhaust and heat is too close.I have welded about 2 inches longer inlet and moved suspension, and longer distance to the bumper, where there are large hole in both sides.it is something rotten in only 4 years old car.

Had this fitted for about 3 months, but due to resonate noise coming through the car, I even installed sound proofing in the boot which helped but still a pain mostly at engine braking, so for now refitted the old standard back box.

A poor exhaust. It doesn't look very good from the back of the MX-5 as the pipes don't extend far enough through the rear valance. It introduced massive and irritating vibrations through the plastic parcel shelf bit. It's boomy & harsh below 4,000rpm and oddly quiet above 4,000rpm (unlike the stock exhaust which sings nicely at higher revs). When hot the exhaust gets extremely boomy and unbearable with the roof down. I returned mine!It also doesn't come with the required bolts (threads are welded to stock exhuast)

Was a little worried at 1st after reading some reviews of people saying its Boomy.... After a couple of phone calls to Mx5parts I took the plunge and ordered it for my 2.0 Sport.... I needn't have worried, Fit and finish is 100% spot on and the sound is just right, a lovely sporty note but not too loud, "just Right".... Many Thanks Mx5parts !!!!!

Can't fault the finish but the sound is far too boomy. It occurs between 3k and 4k which is cruising speed on motorways and fast A roads. The rest of the tone is ok but not a patch on my old larini. I've blocked off one of the pipes to make it liveable.

It fitted perfect on my 20th. anniversary. The mounting rubber came of with a little help of tiny nails mounted arround the steel swellings. Then I pressed of the rubbers. The sound was not the same as came with the earlier Mk2/2,5 silencer I got from MX5 parts for my -99 Mx5. It was OK with increased speed, but when letting of the gas it gave a terrible backsound. I couldn“t stand it. It destroyed the joy of driving. What did I do to solve the problem. I quite simple plugged the left exhaust tube. Now I am happy with the sound. It gives a soft sound and the back droning is no more.
