This product is poorly designed and incomplete….As mentioned by other reviewers, there is no Rubber Seal supplied to fit between the Cone Filter and the MAF Sensor, this was easily rectified with a few wraps of PTFE tape. The instructions are terrible, and don’t seem to fully represent the parts that came in the box. However, there are plenty of pictures of the product installed on the internet that can be used for reference.Additional issues I found where… 1. My car was missing the threaded studs in the chassis leg to mount the Head Shield. From Googling it seems some cars either don’t have the Studs or have Threaded Holes instead. Ended up having to Drill and Tap fresh holes.2. The main bracket that supports the weight of the MAF sensor /Cone Filter is far too long, positioning the assembly far too close to the Exh Manifold. This is easily rectified by cutting about a 1/3 off the length and drilling a new 8mm hole. 3. The adapter piece that goes between the Main Bracket and the Jubilee Clip is poorly designed so doesn’t seat well between the Clip and the Cone Filter and doesn’t have sufficient thread length to engage the supplied Nylock.4. The M6 Bolt to attach the Heat Shield to the Smaller Bracket is too long to use with the supplied Cap Head Nut, fixed by using a shorter bolt.I don’t mind some light modification to get stuff to fit, but for the people expecting a plug and play kit, this certainly isn’t. Seeing as others have ran into similar issues, I feel MX5 Parts should maybe remove this product from sale until it has been made fit for purpose. Now that it’s installed, it does sound good; you get very tasty induction noises, particularly at high RPM. No noticeable performance gain, but wasn’t expecting one.

Not great, there's more than a few problems with this. There is no rubber seal between the filter and the rest of the air system which probably allows a reasonable amount of dirty air in.The instructions are not good at all.Doesn't really seem to fit in the car properly. Also, the heatshield isn't much use at all.The worst part is that it is clearly a used part! Not sure if this is a fault of mx5parts or pipercross but everything was scratched up and the filter had clearly already been fitted to a car before. Not the end of the world because the filter was perfectly clean and looked new so maybe it was fitted then immediately removed. The good part is that once fitted it does sound better so does its job I suppose as long as the dirty air doesn't become a problem later on.

Air filter kit doesn’t come with a seal for between the air flow meter and the cone. Had to try bodge it, didn’t work. Going back to stock airbox.Would recommend finding a different kit or buy from someone that has found a rubber seal suitable. MX5 Parts themselves were flawless however.

Very easy to fit, forget the instructions and just use the picture and common sense! Fit the filter to the existing pipe off the car, that way you can get it nice and tight without issue and still easily get it through the rear of the heat shield and attach to existing clean air pipe. I even applied some heat shrink tape to make the seal even better but it's not really necessary. Once on it sounds good but I doubt adds any real power. Overall I'd recommend it as it tidies the engine bay and sounds much better.

EXCELLENT! A real dramatic(!) increase in sound (& much cheaper than upgrading the exhaust!) with an increase in power (or at least the impression of having more BHP, with the cool impreza type sound); hence definitely takes the standard car to being (sounding) more like a trackcar!Fitting took around 45mins, the instructions aren't as bad as some make out & the photos help massively (I just followed the steps on the photos). My top tip would be; that the j/clip actually slots into the little chunky black plastic washer type thing on the nut&bolt. Fit the heat-shield first (using existing bolts which held the original box in place, but incl. the 2 new washers) then slot the filter in & couple to the plastic a/f meter. Although after having fitting the j/clip with the bolt to the longer black metal bracket (which comes with the kit) & then put in place with the j/clip opened out to accept the filter's sleeve. N.B. The meter filter sleeve crimped a bit with tightening the j/clip hard (whilst carefully 'just' bending the heatshield out of the way) as it could do with some sort of large rubber washer to prevent this happening, as the sleeve is 'marginally' larger than the a/f male pipe end. Although I can't see that the crimping will be detrimental. All in all this does seem expensive, but it definitely increases the old' MX-5 smile!!

No criticism of MX5 Parts, the usual excellent delivery and service..problem is with the product. Worryingly there is no seal between the filter neck and air flow sensor, possibly allowing unfiltered air into the engine, crude mounting arrangement, ambiguous and incorrect installation instructions. Three phone calls to Pipercross and nobody bothered to call back.... come on guys you can do better than this! I returned it to MX5 Parts and was credited straight away.

This Kit not only looks good it enhances the engine bay with the shiny heat sheild replacing the old black airbox. Easy to fit (approx 30 mins) would recommend removing the rubber ring on air flow meter,as this allows the filter to fit flush and giving the clamp a good grip,Gives a better performance higher up rev range and a nice throaty (if thats a word but you know what i mean) noise when you give it some stick.Usual fast service from the guys at MX5 arrived in less than 24hrs

The Pipercross kit was easily fitted, looks great, and does not add significantly to induction noise. The noise it makes is much nicer than expected and therefore really pleased
