Replacement Stubby Aerial Mast for the Mk3, 3.5 & 3.75This replacement is only 17.5cm tall vs 40.0cm for the original, and works just as well. No loss of reception at all. We tried lots of cheaper aftermarket aerials, but they all had a reduction in reception quality, so we have sourced this one from one of Japanese top OEM manufacturers. The price is higher, but the quality is without fault. “The original item on my NC launch model was starting to delaminate after 107,000 miles. It took only 2 minutes to swap over the old to new. Yes, thereÆs a very small amount of the chrome base visible as itÆs slightly wider than the aerial. No, I couldnÆt appreciate any difference in reception. Overall the new item looks neater.”

“Fitted to my Mark 1 with manual base unit and adapter. Works much better than a metal Moss short Stubby that I tried first . I use it with a Pure DAB radio getting about 95% coverage in S. London.”

“Only 2 out of 10 the diameter at the base of the areal where it fits onto base is not wide enough to cover base original is approximately 28mm new one is only 20mm so looks stupid. Looks good quality but Will be sending back as not fit for purpose”

“Bought one of these to replace the damaged & bent one that came on my MX5.It does show show some of the chrome on the base of the original aerial but looks neat and reception seems good (although I've mostly had the roof down since fitting it, so not the best listening environment!).”

“I am slightly disappointed by the visible metal at the base when this aerial is fitted, as it makes it obvious that it is an aftermarket part. Even though plenty of people here say they're not bothered, surely they'd have been even more pleased with it if the base of the aerial was flush with the mounting? I'm afraid that mine just lives in the glovebox as a spare in case anyone removes the original.”

“Aerial arrived swiftly , a real positive aspect of ordering with mx5 parts.co.uk , I\'ve ordered several individual items recently and I am impressed with the overall service . I did however email a question to customer service regarding suitability of an item I wished to order and didn\'t receive a response which was somewhat disappointing .This item looks great on my mazda mx5 it really begs the questions why this is not the standard fit , if you have the long factory fit one still on your car do your self a favour , go and unscrew it , place your order and screw in a stubby rubber one every thing is better. Sound , visuals and it\'s really flexible . The small chrome disc revealed looks very flash and matches my other chrome ascents in myEditors Note: Thanks for the comments and glad to hear you are pleased with the aerial. We are disappointed to learn that you didn\'t receive a response from an email though.
