NEW Super Light IL Motorsport Strut Tower Brace BarThis new brace from IL has a 'D' section brace that has a honeycombe core with super light alloy endsA strut brace is the finishing piece to a near perfect body! Mazda did a great job when they created the MX-5 chassis, but as with everything there is room for improvement. A strut brace stiffens and strengthens the upper body structure. This makes your MX-5 feel more solid over sudden impacts and aids in more precise handling. Shock Tower Braces are now standard equipment on Special Edition MX-5's. One of the single biggest improvements you can make to your MX-5's chassis. This Shock Tower Brace is made of polished aluminum with a 'honeycombe' core and lightweight aluminium mountings.Fits all Mazda MX5 Mk1, Mk2/2.5 models, 1989>2005Please Note: This is now the latest version that comes with an additional modification that stops the master cylinder moving when braking giving a far more positive feel, which is now available for both right and left hand drive cars. This bar is not suitable for later 1.8 Mk1 models with the "fresh air" duct fitted to the left hand side of the vehicle. Also, it is NOT suitable for left hand drive vehicles with the larger 4 litre washer bottle on the bulkhead. Please also note, although the brace bar itself will still fit, the stopper for the master cylinder will only fit vehicles where there is a clearance of 210-230mm between the bulkhead and the end of the master cylinder. “A quality bar and well made, however, as it is not as stiff as I'd like due to the bolts that go through it which reduces torsional rigidity a tad compared with FM bars, I've given it four stars not five. I would add that it looks pretty cool with the bonnet up too if you like bling”

“This is an excellent, well-priced piece of kit. It has made more of a difference than I would have thought - definitely noticeable for me. A note on installation though. The stud that screws into a sleeve in the mount to brace the brake cylinder is supposed to screw in easily (by hand) so that it is adjustable once the mount is bolted down. Mine did not. Not even close. In order to 'persuade' it to go in, I fitted a cap nut onto the end of the stud and (with significant force) managed to slowly spanner it in. Once in however it was still absurdly tight and hence obviously not adjustable. I then had to use the '2 nut' technique (a 2nd nut locks the first nut on, allowing you to spanner the stud out using the nut that is locked in place) to remove the stud again. Once I had done this, I was able to slowly work the stud in and out of the sleeve in the mount (with a bunch of WD-40), and eventually the fit loosened up enough for the stud to turn by hand which is what you need. Fitment was then fine. So 5 stars for the item itself, but minus 1 for the stud not fitting the sleeve, which took a bit of figuring out.”

“looks good and strong, fits perfect.instructions and bolts included.the bolt for brake master cylinder support is too short, replaced it with a longer one.the brace makes a difference in rreduced vibrations when hitting smal holes in the road.it makes my koni suspension work better.”

“Having purchased a few items now from these guys i wasn't surprised to take delivery of my brace on the second day after ordering, cracking service! The brace went on in about half an hour & that included the time it took to remove the rounded off strut mount nut. I did have to modify the brake master cylinder brace bolt supplied though as it was too close to the end of the cylinder with the locknut in place ( I suspect my car has had a replacement cylinder at some point). To say I was gobsmacked by the results on my first drive is an understatement, these things should be fitted as standard! The car felt so much more 'planted' & responsive. BUY ONE!I can't wait to fit the lower front & rear braces now....”

“I purchased a brace bar a few days ago and it arrived very quickly as per usual for MX5parts. I have just found time to fit it and although I had to make a quick call to 'the office' to clarify a minor point on the instructions, I found it easy and quick to fit (I am a novice!). I drove my Eunos Roadster for the first time today with the brace bar in place and was surprised at the positive difference it made to handling (either that or it is a very effective placebo!). I'll continue to monitor the 'feel' of the car with the brace in place but it may just be the best accessory I have yet acquired for my MX.”
