Clutch Slave Cylinder Aftermarket MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 Reviews

Quality Aftermarket Replacement Clutch Slave CylinderThese are made in Europe to OEM standards. The slave cylinder can be rebuilt, but the cost is hardly justified when a great quality replacement can be yours for such a low price. The clutch slave cylinder should be located behind the driver side wheel. Remove the two bolts, the clutch line and the slave cylinder should come off to the right side. The slave cylinder actuates the clutch arm by use of hydraulic pressure. They do wear over time due to their age and repeated use. The first sign of problems is a vague clutch, followed by some leaking around the seals and eventually total failure. If you start to loose pedal pressure on clutch operation, the most likely cause is loss of fluid from the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Dirt works its way into the cylinder and causes scratches and grooves which lead to fluid leak or air getting in. If your clutch is not as crisp as it used to be, why not replace it or keep one in the garage just in case. These are new, not rebuilt slave cylinders. We have sold a large volume of these with great success and great reviews. Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005

Usual fast delivery from MX5 Parts. I had the same problem refitting the hydraulic line that others have posted, I fitted the cylinder in place and then tried for ages to connect the pipe, with no luck. I took the cylinder off and the pipe went on first time, and then bolted it back on.If you don't have one, and cant borrow one, invest in the correct brake pipe spanner, for £4 its worth every penny, saves you a lot of grief if the fitting is on tight like mine. my 10mm open ended spanner was too small and the 11mm too big??, and an adjustable spanner was just rounding off the nut, wasted over an hour trying to get it off before borrowing the correct spanner, which did the job in seconds.

I can't complain too much as this part is cheaper than a repair kit but I'm not too impressed with it.I had the same problem that I've seen on another review - the clutch fluid pipe won't thread properly with this part. After trying to screw it in for ages I ended up just stripping out the internals and using them in the old cylinder (so essentially I just used this part to provide me with a repair kit).On inspection and comparison with the old part, the threads in the new one are barely there so it was no wonder I couldn't get the pipe in properly.I guess there's just poor quality control somewhere along the line.2 stars simply because it's very affordable.

I read all the reviews before buying this item - my experience really wasn't great. The key difficulty was in getting the fluid pipe reconnected. This part has the cavity at a very noticably different angle to the old, and the old had a recess to help seat the pipe bolt. Had to be very careful to not crossthread thge pipe bolt. Took Bl**dy hours, and i resolved by putting the guts of the new part in to the old housing. All works fine now, but far from impressed!

Arrived promptly, but took longer to fit than expected as cylinder was slightly different than the old/original one and clutch pipe entry angle was cast at quite a different angle. Other than that, excellent service.

This part failed and needed replacing in less than eighteen months/15,000 miles. The gaitor disintegrated and let in water and dirt which led to an inconsistent clutch action. I've replaced it with a genuine Mazda part.

Very quick delivery and a bargain price I fitted it after work this evening a little bit fiddly as you need both hands but only one fits in the available space but once you have one bolt in place its pretty easy to do the rest it works perfectly and looks to be just as good quality as the Mazda part I removed.

Excellent as always from mx5parts, ordered it at 12 on Friday, arrived before 1pm on saturday. Beat that ! Fitted ok after much time, but being an amature i expected this. Only thing it didnt come with, is they usually have a rubber bit on the nipple, that isn't diplayed in the picture and mine had broken off. If any1 knows wear i could find one of these. It would be good to know.
