Quality Aftermarket Replacement Clutch Slave CylinderThese are made in Europe to OEM standards. The slave cylinder can be rebuilt, but the cost is hardly justified when a great quality replacement can be yours for such a low price. The clutch slave cylinder should be located behind the driver side wheel. Remove the two bolts, the clutch line and the slave cylinder should come off to the right side. The slave cylinder actuates the clutch arm by use of hydraulic pressure. They do wear over time due to their age and repeated use. The first sign of problems is a vague clutch, followed by some leaking around the seals and eventually total failure. If you start to loose pedal pressure on clutch operation, the most likely cause is loss of fluid from the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Dirt works its way into the cylinder and causes scratches and grooves which lead to fluid leak or air getting in. If your clutch is not as crisp as it used to be, why not replace it or keep one in the garage just in case. These are new, not rebuilt slave cylinders. We have sold a large volume of these with great success and great reviews. Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005

Reading the reviews there are quite a spread of experiences. I found no quality problems with the threads as some people did but as I read the reviews after fitting I would have only given the item a cursory glace before fitting. As others have commented, the machined flat where the hydraulic pipe enters the casting was a slightly different angle to the original part but as long as you finger tighten the pipe union all of the way into the casting before bolting it to the block, all should be well. Where the difference in angle was more of an issue was tightening the union once all assembled, it was difficult to get a one flat rotation of the spanner against the obstruction of the subframe. Do use a brake pipe spanner on the union - the only "special" tool needed. Other than that a surprisingly straight forward task through the FOS arch.Priced brilliantly less than £15 Inc postage and arrived next day.

Looks just like the original, fits the same way and does the same job, so why pay more?I've had the dreaded clutch squeak, it started the week after I got the car so I just put up with it.Over time the noise has got louder (sounded like a stuck seagull every time I changed gear) and the clutch started to feel notchy. After scouring the internet I realised that it was most likely the slave cylinder so undid the old one and lubed it as some had suggested. This cured it for all of 30 minutes but I knew I was on the right lines. Fearing the clutch was also knackered I decided to risk the 15 pounds and as I'd already had both bolts undone, I realised I could change this pretty easily. Most fiddly part without doubt is fitting the pipe back on and even though I did this first, it took an age to line up properly, didn't help that I have large hands, working in a tight space underneath but I stuck with it and eventually the pipe was secured and the slave bolted back in place. And what a difference, not just the squeak - feels like I fitted a new clutch. Never realised how stiff the old one was and the horrible notchy feeling has gone.15 quid very well spent!

First things first - my car is a JDM 2001 Mk2.5 1.8 RS.As others have said, this slave cylinder quite clearly does NOT fit some cars properly. As I and others have found, the angle at which the pipe enters the slave cylinder is VERY different to the official mazda item and will not fit without CONSIDERABLE effort. If you didn't know, access to the slave cylinder is very poor which makes a very tough job even harder. I managed to make mine fit after a couple of hours (of what should be a very straightforward task) however, the pipe is now under tension due to the incorrect angle of the thread, and I have resigned to accepting that I will have to revisit this job in the near future.I know it is tough to swallow as the official Mazda item is over 4 times the price at 70 odd quid, but do yourself a favour and do NOT take a punt with this - in hindsight I would have gladly paid the extra.

The example of this part which I received was of very poor quality. The bleed valve thread was so poorly cut, that as much fluid seeped out of the thread as was expelled from the bleed nipple. Also the angle of the pipe union is much steeper than the original, which means the fluid pipe is under some degree of stress once fitted. However, the problem I had turned out to be the master cylinder as much as the slave, so I ordered both a new Mazda master cylinder and Mazda slave cylinder instead. As has already been suggested, quality control on this part must be a little lax, as some people report excellent results, others like me say it's very poor. However I'll keep it as a spare. I'd say this part is false economy as a permanent replacement. Sorry.

Usual fast delivery from MX5 Parts. I had the same problem refitting the hydraulic line that others have posted, I fitted the cylinder in place and then tried for ages to connect the pipe, with no luck. I took the cylinder off and the pipe went on first time, and then bolted it back on.If you don't have one, and cant borrow one, invest in the correct brake pipe spanner, for £4 its worth every penny, saves you a lot of grief if the fitting is on tight like mine. my 10mm open ended spanner was too small and the 11mm too big??, and an adjustable spanner was just rounding off the nut, wasted over an hour trying to get it off before borrowing the correct spanner, which did the job in seconds.

I can't complain too much as this part is cheaper than a repair kit but I'm not too impressed with it.I had the same problem that I've seen on another review - the clutch fluid pipe won't thread properly with this part. After trying to screw it in for ages I ended up just stripping out the internals and using them in the old cylinder (so essentially I just used this part to provide me with a repair kit).On inspection and comparison with the old part, the threads in the new one are barely there so it was no wonder I couldn't get the pipe in properly.I guess there's just poor quality control somewhere along the line.2 stars simply because it's very affordable.
