Even though the filter is the same, the sump washers are different between models, so please select from the drop down box. Never had a problem when using stock parts - very satisfied. Purchasing after-market components is, in my opinion, false economy. The car designers know what's best, so I pay a little more for their recommendation & have never been disappointed. Stick with stock!

Nice value oil filter kit! :)I usually order several of these every time I order from MX5 parts. Local prices can't compare to this unless you are buying aftermarked filters, but OEM parts are a cheap Insurance compared to the unknown. You never know when aftermarked parts are going to fail on you.

Provided sump plug washer was steel not copper: I\'m not sure of official spec, but one on my car was copper so steel washer didn\'t seem right.Editors Note: Thanks for the review. Just to confirm that the original Mazda washer was steel so the chances are that someone has used a copper version during a previous oil change on your car.

When it comes to lubrication you simply can't take risks. This Mazda part is exactly as specified and no more expensive than a generic part one could find at your local car store, but this also comes with a new sump washer so, bonus! This is the only replacement filter I use.

Quality filter, wouldn't use anything else. Tip for avoiding an oily mess when removing the filter (mk2 at least anyway), use the scissor jack on the sill to raise the height of the *right* hand side of the car up at an angle. Leave it like that for a few minutes and the oil will drain from the filter back into the engine. Don't get under the car when it's like this though, remove the scissor jack and raise the car properly before starting work.Doing this should ensure that only a few drops escape instead of the deluge you get if the car is kept on the level.
