All NewNow supplied as a silenced bypass pipe, in 100% polished 304 Stainless Steel, complete with all fixing bolts and gaskets.100% Stainless steel catalytic convertor by-pass pipe (cat replacement pipe). For the removal of the catalytic convertor from the exhaust system. All Mk1 1989>1998There are three different cats fitted to the Mk1, 1.6 or 1.8 upto 1994. This cat is 370mm in length.1.6 or 1.8 from 1994 to 1996. This cat is 440mm in length.1.6 or 1.8 1996/8. This cat is 475mm in length. A cat replacement pipe is NOT available for this model. The safest way to ensure you order the correct pipe is to measure the distance between the two mounting flanges of your existing cat.Supplied complete with gaskets and bolts. Please Note: As from January 1st 2012, the UK MOT laws changed regarding catalytic convertors. Any vehicle built after 1992, MUST have a catalytic convertor fitted regardless of whether or not it passes an emissions test. Any car presented without a cat fitted will fail. We would advise checking with your MOT tester before fitting this pipe if the car is being used on the road.
Even though this is a 'silenced' bypass pipe, the removal of the catalytic convertor WILL result in an increase in exhaust noise! Some like it, others do not. Beware!

6 out of 5. The single best upgrade for my NA. Quality stainless fabrication, simple to fit, fantastic sound (I have a stainless cat back) delivering MUCH improved performance. MX5Parts great 4 day delivery to Australia too.

Fitted this along with a 4-2-1 manifold but left the standard exhaust. There was a slight improvement in torque but it pulled much better above 5000rpm. I then advanced the timing to 14 degrees - the overall result is impressive.

Great quality stuff, very nice weldings and finish. Kills that ugly broken-exhaust sound of the bargain dual exit muffler in case it was used with test-pipe before. More suprisingly the performance is a little even better versus the test pipe. The only "weakness" were the bolts and nuts, i replaced them with stainless steel ones. The fitment was perfect, it took abot 20 minutes. Thanks, great product!

Fitted this to my 1996 1.8 a couple of weeks ago and cant say how happy I am with it. Very easy to fit and makes a noticable difference to the car. Was a little quieter than I had hoped to start off with but after a few days of driving it carbons up and gets louder. Have since fittted a Pipercross induction kit from MX5parts as well as making my own custom cat back exhaust which definately gives the sound and performance improvements to turn heads and take people by suprise! A must buy. Fantastic delivery as always.

Arrived very quickly, looks fantastic, wit hthe 4-2-1 manifold is slightly higher than the stock system and turned out to be ever so slightly quieter as there was nothing left of my cat. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

great item went and picked it up myself and service was very quick like always. was abit of a struggle to fit as the front to bolts were seized on but i used a angle grinder to cut these off and the rear bolts came off fine. easy to fit took me about 1hour 1/2 not to bad really, well worth the money and gets rid of that nasty looking cat that was there. well done mx5 parts great stuff

Same old same, brilliant looking but VERY tight nuts on front of cat. Thought I would add this bit as looked through several reviews and could not find the answer, but one phone call to friendly MX5 parts answered it for me. Just unplug the heat sensor from the loom, (I have put insulating tape over the socket which is left on the car just in case I want to use it at a later date and all the dirt/water does not get in) You do not need to connect anything to the socket. Secondly mine also blows at the joint, so advisable to get some exhaust assembly paste for the fitting, it won't hurt and it holds the gasket in place whilst you are assembling. As always very satisfied with product and service.
