I used Money Maxim (through a link on moneysavingexpert.com to get Hire Car Excess Insurance cover. I took a policy with InsureFor (as I have done over previous years). I did not have to use the cover so I cannot comment on how good the actual policy may or may not have been, however I was happy with the level of cover provided, ease of obtaining the cover and the price paid. No doubt I will do the same next time I need excess cover.

The car hire excess insurance was good value for money and paid out a claim for a broken windscreen without any quibbles.

I purchased an excess waiver policy with them & the experience has been unsatisfactory. The service provided by Insurefor.com's appointed claims handling company is terrible. My claim was going on for over a month & I received very little feedback from them, despite chasing. It was not a very intricate claim, merely a roadside recovery; I dread to think of the issues were it more complex or had I had to pay out a much larger amount, in the hope my insurance purchased in good faith would reimburse me in good time. I also had requests for documents that had already been submitted. When the claim was finally settled, it was settled at the wrong amount & I had incurred interest on the credit card used to pay the hire company.

No problems taking the policy out. I didn't make a claim, which is where a review is really of any use.

The insurance covered what we needed. We did need to make a claim and were able to provide the information required on-line which was easy to do. However, communication with the insurer post claim was poor with e-mails going unanswered. We did receive the money claimed (in a reasonable time) but was not made aware of this until some weeks after it had been paid. Communication with claimants needs to be improved.
