Solgar Vitamin D3 1000IU (25µg) 100 Softgels is a food supplement providing 25 micrograms of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) in each softgel, taken once daily. UK sunlight isn't strong enough to produce enough vitamin D from around October to early March, so a daily supplement like this one can help maintain your levels through autumn and winter.

**Key Features**

- **25µg (1000 IU) per softgel:** More than double the 10 micrograms a day generally recommended for most UK adults, particularly useful during autumn and winter when sunlight exposure is too low for the body to produce vitamin D.
- **Supports normal immune function:** Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
- **Supports bone, muscle and teeth health:** Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, normal muscle function and normal teeth.
- **Aids calcium and phosphorus absorption:** Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus, and to normal blood calcium levels.

### Who in the UK might need to take a vitamin D supplement?

The NHS advises that everyone, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, should consider a daily supplement of 10 micrograms of vitamin D during autumn and winter, because UK sunlight isn't strong enough to produce enough vitamin D from around October to early March. People who get little or no sun exposure, such as those who are housebound or in a care home, who cover their skin when outdoors, or who have dark skin from an African, Caribbean or south Asian background, are advised to take a daily supplement all year round.

### Can I take too much vitamin D?

Yes. The NHS advises adults not to take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day in total from all sources. Taking too much for a long period can cause calcium to build up in the body (hypercalcaemia), which can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and heart.

### Is this product suitable for vegetarians or vegans?

No. The vitamin D3 in this product is derived in part from fish liver oil, and the softgel shell contains bovine gelatin, so it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

I have been using said item for some years. When my GP sent me for a Blood Test. The test revealed I was l seriously lacking in Vitamin D. I originally bought this product from a well known Health shop however, they became far too costly for me. A friend gave me details of MEDINO & I have purchased from yourselves ever since. My Daughter & another friend of mine now buys from Medino since I passed details on to them as well. As I always say Word is the best form of publicity. Thankyou for the excellent service you provide.

I was first advised to use Slogar Vitamin D tablets while I was away on holiday abroad by a lady who detected my low Vitamin D level. This was confirmed by my GP and then my Hospital Consultant 2 months later.
