Pencil Tipper This tipper is taped on one end, it's easy to hold and easy to play with. Suitable for bodhrán players who only strike the skin with one end of the tipper. There are a lot of different shapes of beaters and most bodhrán players have a variety of beaters at their disposal. The type you use is all down to personal preference. “great tipper I really like using this tipper. I did find the wire wrap was a little uncomfortable on my finger so I put a pencil grip on it and that made it more comfortable. This tipper is interesting sounding. It has a little snare sound to it. I find the weight is great and it feels natural in my hand.”

“This is a low mass beater, meaning that momentum to bounce off the hand and swing back is largely missing. It's ultimately responsive, but it's all in the hand, no lag or lead, every bit of the rhythm. It's less force and more work, best for a delicate hand with stamina. If you have the hand to find the nuance, it can be a very rewarding beater. If you can play a pencil, you can handle it.”
