Featuring an adjustable band to tighten or loosen the dowels, this beater offers an exciting range of sounds - perfect for those who want to take their playing to the next level.
Features:
Comfortable ribbed grip
Adjustable band
Length 11"
Rubber dowel on handle for accented triplets
What is a hot rod stick?
Hot rod tippers have become incredibly popular in recent years. These beaters produce a much softer sound than hard tippers. They also offer a percussive click when striking the bodhrán.
In their most basic form, they’re simply thin dowels of wood, held together by tape. Hot Rods cover the same impact area as most hard tippers, but deliver more attack per impact point creating a full, warm, resonant tone.
Many bodhrán players like these beaters for their versatility. Most hot rod beaters come with a means of tightening or loosening the dowels allowing for a variety of sounds. The wider apart the dowels, the softer the sound, with more audible click. The tighter or closer together the dowels, the closer the sound will be to that of a hard stick.

It was a very quick turnaround between placing the order & receiving it. I haven't yet had a chance to try it out, as I'm only beginning lessons, but it looks perfectly fine. Thank you for great service.

I love this tipper, its my personal favorite. Being able to vary the sound from a soft brushing to a harder, more explosive sound is very nice in one piece. Mcneela's service is always fantastic, and I love how fast I get things all the way on the Pacific Coast. Also I love the emails, always very informative and are obviously written by a music lover like myself. Bravo!

Interesting, but a bit heavy for a beginner I purchased this multi-rod tipper because it is the type my instructor uses, and it lends an interesting sound. I do like the sound as a variation on a solid tipper, although I wouldn't use it exclusively. As a beginner, I find that it is much heavier than my favorite tipper and harder to do fast runs. Also, it isn't really double ended, so although it is fine to do double ended triplets, it is a little more cumbersome, particularly with the added weight. Using the back end for a triplet also has a different sound so doing one ended triplets sounds different than double ended triplets. I find that rim click are easier with this tipper. So worth trying and playing with to see.

Thanks a million for the detailed feedback, Peter - we really appreciate it! One of the beautiful things about playing the bodhrán is the variety of beaters and tippers that are out there to try. Some cater to certain styles of play more than others. With this in mind, we're very glad you're giving it a fair try. With some more 'mileage' with it, we're sure you will find plenty of good uses for The Brush 2. Best of luck!
