The Celt Banjo 19 Fret
Due to its performance and ease of play this is by far the most popular tenor banjo amongst our traditional Irish music students and intermediate customers.
The McNeela Celt Banjo has recently been upgraded (January 2023) for an even better playing experience:
What’s New? We’ve added planetary tuners for faster tuning mid-play; planetary tuners provide even tension while turning smoothly. We’ve also upgraded the rim to wood for richer acoustics and a more premium look.
The Celt 2 Banjo is a 4-string tenor banjo (19 Fret) made by McNeela Instruments. It's a closed back 24 bracket banjo with excellent traditional tone.

Featuring a beautiful mahogany body, neck, back and rim with an attractive eye-catching gloss finish The Celt looks as good as it sounds. Imported and set up by McNeela Music, this 4 string resonator banjo features a Remo Weather King Skin and 24 tension hooks to hold the head tightly, producing a strong, clear resonant tone - perfect for Irish music sessions.
Most importantly, it has a whacking low G -a strong top string that all traditional Irish music playing demands.
The Celt has been carefully designed, manufactured with precision and comes professionally setup so it produces the perfect sound. The D'Addario strings are hand-picked to better suit your playing.

Only had the banjo for a few weeks but seems really good especially at the very reasonable price. Certainly far better quality than the similar priced banjos available from major instrument retailers in Canada. This banjo was obviously not just slapped together in some factory in the far east. Speedy and low cost delivery and was well packed to resist postal service damage.

After a business trip to Dublin and being inspired by the music I decided to finally play a string instrument after wanting to do it all these years. Searched a little on the net and it seemed like McNeela was a great choice for a beginner Tenor banjo. The shipping process took awhile but it finally arrived in perfect condition. I've got about ten hours playing it and my 'Oh Susannah' is pretty impressive. It's the best (and only) banjo I've ever played! I'll be ready for Temple bar in a few months!

Just received the Celt Banjo wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap that not even Canada Post could damage - thank you. Delivered in 7 days from date of order with no additional customs fees owing. The banjo is lovely and after a quick tune sounds great. Intonation was pretty close right out of the box. It will get it's first workout tonight at a rehearsal. This banjo, shipped from Ireland to Canada, was less expensive and seems of far better quality than similar level instruments from just down the street at a major music retailer. And it's pretty :)

This was a replacement for an earlier model sent in error. I have been playing it several hrs per week since late March. This is a Great Banjo. Intonation is great! Amazing sustain even above 12th fret! Thanks for great product and service.

Conor is the best! Received an earlier version of the Celt 19 fret banjo. It was an all metal ring, intonation was poor. Overall just what I expected. I thought I ordered the current one with laminated would ring. Sent Conor photos and he immediately replaced withe new model. Covered shipping etc. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Love it. Thanks. PS My next Mandolin will be a McNeela!

Hi David, apologies again that you received the wrong banjo but very glad to hear that we sorted it to your satisfaction. I'll pass your kind words onto Conor. We will have some new mandolins on the site over the next few weeks so keep an eye out for those!
