I have realised that I simply don't like aluminium. I would like the same model with brass and wooden headjoints.

I ordered this Tony Dixon Low D whistle/flute combo from Irishmusik, because it was the best offer on any site I could find in Europe. It was delivered to me in Serbia (Europe, but not EU) in mere 7 days!!! I'm more than pleased. Mid you it was shipped from Dublin the very next day it was ordered. As for the whistle/flute... I think it's a more than a good buy. Low D head is very very nice low whistle, not more than a day to get used to a finger-hole spread. It is loud enough for recording sessions, although it may be not as loud in a live session play. Lower octave is steady and full, upper can be chiffy but it might be up to my low level technique. Still, a real nice and player for a low D. Can do crisp and mellow the same time. It looks very nice too... in black and gray metal. As for the flute, I'm a total novice in this instrument, but as far as today I can say that flute is easily at least twice as loud than the whistle. The fingerhole placement is comfortable for me, I can get some quite loud sounds even after one day of practice. I wouldn't comment more on flute characteristics as I'm not a flute player. Yet. However, i would say this is decent enough beginners flute and more than decent Low D. Also, thanks to Mr.Paraic McNeela for this.

This is a reasonably priced flute. It was delivered from oversea's in a timely manner. The flute has a nice tone. I feel the upper register is slightly out of tune, but I am sure I can work on my skills to improve it. The flute head is ok, but nothing exceptional here. As a tin whistle it performs well enough for my own personal enjoyment. Overall, an ok whistle for the price.
