About The Maker  Much like McNeela Instruments, Tony Dixon prides himself with producing quality at an affordable price. Inspiration first struck when Tony’s son came home from school one day wanting to learn the flute. With his son being of a young age, and the probability of him having a new favourite instrument tomorrow being quite likely, Tony decided to give a go at making a simple six hole flute to see if the commitment would last. The head teacher of his son’s school admired Tony’s initial effort and suggested he try and market it as an entry level instrument. Tony took the advice and sent it to a distributor who liked it and immediately placed an order and the rest, as they say, is history! Today his quality instruments are sold and played worldwide. Good to Know:14 day money back guarantee from the day you receive your whistle. As a whistle is pretty good. Good clear tone, easy second octave. But the "tunable" thing is a gimmick. It's no more tunable than any tin whistle in that the tuning is done by moving the plastic mouthpiece. There is no tuning slide and the mouthpiece is so stiff to move that it cracked the 3rd or 4th time I moved it. I now have it glued place.

Hi Martin, thank you for your review. We've updated the product description to specify that this whistle is tuneable using the mouthpiece. However, it shouldn't have cracked while you were tuning it. Can you get in touch with us to arrange a solution? Email service@mcneelamusic.com.

First whistle went missing in transit. Contacted Conor at McNeela and service was first class. Replacement arrived today and the quality and sound is brilliant. This is my second Tony Dixon whistle from McNeela Instruments and can highly recommend their service. Many thanks Conor Ian

As a beginner I still feel that whistles should be sold with a thumb rest as fast playing with an open C can cause continuity issues.

Top of the Line! I upgraded to a better whistle. Say this on the McNeela website and went for it. Glad I did. This whistle has a bit of heft, which I like. Good tones and easy to play. For a bit more money than the red-tipped kind, you get a lot more whistle. When you do, maybe we can meet up in a session!
