Tuneable Polymer Practice Flute (TB021) by Tony Dixon
The Tony Dixon Tenor/Low Flute is a two part ABS flute with polymer body and tuneable head. The tuneable head is also very handy for adjusting its position to suit your embouchure - a great flute for beginners.
Length: 23.2"
This flute is in the Key of D.

I purchased this flute to have an alternative to the whistles I usually play. I have only dabbled with it so far but like its tone rather well. The horizontal playing position is a tad awkward coming from the vertical whistle but this is a matter of adjustment on my part. The price was very reasonable and the flute is a good, "Let's have a go." introductory instrument. I'm well satisfied with this and the whistles I have bought from McNeela.

Perfect for the intermediate student, too I already knew the basics of irish flute, as I had once made a terrible one out of PVC pipe in order to learn. This being said, I feel like many folks consider these instruments for beginners, and I disagree! They sound great and are plenty loud. Definitely good for beginners, but for me playing by myself this really fits the bill. I love it! Cheap too! Greetings from New England, USA!

Great instrument for beginners! I have a degree in flute performance on the Boehm flute so while I'm very new to the traditional Irish flute, I came in with some basic knowledge. It's pretty easy to play in tune, has a lovely sound, and is at a great price point for anyone interested in taking up the instrument but who isn't quite ready to invest in a wooden flute. Highly recommend!

This flute has a very nice sound. It is a perfect weight, but I cannot reach the right ring finger hole. My hand is too small. I am sad about it. Not a total loss. I am gifting it to someone who will love it and has a longer reach!

Hi Norma, we're sorry to hear this. Before you gift it however, you might try a technique known as the Piper's Grip. It's to help flute players like yourself cover the tone holes of the keyless Irish flute. Have a read of this: https://blog.mcneelamusic.com/2018/12/11/the-pipers-grip-for-irish-simple-system-flute-players/. Hope it helps, Miriam

Great Flute. Great beginner flute at a great price. Wonderful sound and a good way to get into Irish flute if you want to give it a go. Shipping to US took about a week, as expected.
