“My sister, nephews (aged 8 and 11) and I loved The Gunpowder Plot - it was genuinely atmospheric and interactive and the actors were very engaging. The VR was fun but a bit glitchy, especially at the end.”
“We came without knowing what to expect, so it was a surprise to have a mixture of actors (who worked hard). The virtual reality sections with headsets were the best bits but unfortunately, my husband had problems with the sound on the first one and on the last one, he had no sound at all.
It is also quite expensive, although I appreciate that with so many actors to pay it must be a costly show to put on. I think the Gunpowder Plot Experience would probably be enjoyed by teenagers and younger adults.”
“An amazing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors were great. The whole way the VR was incorporated into the story was excellent. Virtual reality is something I will try again. The only disappointment was my VR headset in the last part only worked intermittently.”
“Did not meet our expectations. In comparison to other projects delivered by the same team ( war of the worlds), we were expecting more atmosphere in the reception area, and during the experience, more action and more viewer involvement. And the bar in the middle was just dull, not as red grass one in the war of the worlds, which was one of the highlights of the experience and absolutely stunning. Also no mocktail in the middle bar. I`m comparing this experience with other delivered by the same team, as we booked this one based on our previous experience with the team, and were expecting the same level of the show.
In a nutshell, if you want the atmosphere of London from that period with actor action, there is London dungeon, etc, which delivers better, if you want a layered reality experience, other projects are way better.
Oh, and the lockers problem is just hilarious.”
“Very well done with great actors who interact with everyone in the group. Good set up and just enough menace (but not scary!) and I enjoyed learning about the real life facts at the end of the tour.
It's interspersed with headsets which take you on a virtual journey. This wasn't the best part though as the visuals were a bit sketchy and could have been better.
Overall though, a great experience (fab cocktails in the bar too) and I would definitely recommend.”
“It was fun, but I think that we've been spoilt by the War of the World's which was amazing. The VR on the last scene didn't work well. We couldn't decide if the bar person in the interval was a character-actor playing sullen and grumpy or shouldn't be working in hospitality. I'd pre-ordered an interval cocktail, the choice was a pint of beer or a Buck's fizz essentially, so not good value for £10 each. Actors were good to interact with, and tried to make it fun, which it was.”
