Freeview Play Recorder FVP-5000T 1TB (Refurbished) Reviews

4.2 Rating 334 Reviews
Purchased as a refurbished product, the Humax website quotes 'We fully test and certify all of our refurbished units to ensure you’re getting the latest software' The device was received with old firmware installed (1.03.50) even though the current version (1.03.53) was released in January 2021 - so not off to a good start! The general performance as a recording device is OK, although operation is not without annoyances, the most significant being that the recorder briefly interrupts the RF pass through when waking before starting a scheduled recording. At the price paid (as a refurbished device) it is acceptable, but I couldn't recommend anyone buying a 'new' one at full price.

Condition and delivery from humax absolutely excellent, The free view box itself though is not as fast and responsive as my old humax fox T2 and the epg not as informative also but all in I’m happy with it and with the apps , and yes I’ve hard wired it to the router and updated the software to the latest release ,

Much quicker response time to remote control instructions compared with our Panasonic. We would like to fast forward during playback by a minute or so to skip through adverts which we could do on the Panasonic

Bought due to my very old Humax freesat recorder not behaving as it should. still getting my (old) head round it. Appears to do everything claimed for it. Tried recording 3 programs and watching the fourth- worked fine. MInor niggles mostly compared to old humax are- 1 Silly placement of on/off light UNDER the unit near front- a piece of paper slid under makes it visible. 2 aerial socket on to TV does not work when unit turned off. Fitting a twin socket to aerial box fixed. 3 I miss the 2 minute jump forwards/back on the old freesat, and find fast forwards/back less convenient. Does all it is supposed to.

This is a step back from the previous version. Interface isn't great and skip button has gone... Glad bought a refurb as would have been even more dissapointed if I'd paid top dollar for it.
