Have had several Humax PVRs. They all failed in the end but I liked the features they offered. Remote controllers gradually became inoperable. The new one works well most of the time but occasionally it fails to switch on. Resolved by unplugging after which it goes through what I call the 'Humax' routine.

Excellent machine with great recording facilities. Easy to set up and a delight to use. Bought to replace a broken Sky box and after around 4 months will have paid for itself in ceased Sky subscriptions. If you only watch standard tv programmes and Freeview as I do then the Humax is a great recording machine. The potential to record 4 programmes whilst watching another is really useful.

Pilot lights underneath case not visible on usual TV stand black glass shelf. Plastic prism to reflect them to front would be a simple remedy. Constant nag "View in HD" is very annoying when deliberately watching an item (eg local news) not available in HD - needs ability to inactivate this nag. High operating temperature is a bit of a worry. Otherwise excellent.
