I bought this and am extremely pleased with it. One small problem, I was hopeing to record my cctv camera output but I can`t without a digital modulator so will still have to use the VCR!

So far everything is fine and I am pleased with the device. I still have a lot to learn to get the full potential from the devices facilities. My only disappointment is with the remote control, several of the buttons require to be pressed really hard to respond, especially the "OK" button. I'm sure with more experience it will prove to be a very satisfactory source of entertainment.

This box looks very stylish, is very easy to set up and has a huge memory for recording programmes. However, it is quite complicated to use compared to our previous box. There seem to be a few issues which may or may not be because the box is refurbished. The tv guide is slow to respond and with several recordings, when watching them we have found that the box will suddenly revert back to live tv and will not allow you to continue watching your recording from where it stopped so you have to fast forward through it to find your place. It's a good box, but not as good as what we're used to.

We can record programmes and can watch these later; we can use Freeview and catch-up - but the TV Guide screen is overlaid on the current programme and is very difficult to read. Another drawback is the inability (when connected up as it has to be) to just watch the existing TV and use its own channel options - there is no 'loop through' as I think they call it. This also results in an inability to switch from the HDMI channel that the box uses to the 'TV' option. Finally, and probably we should return it for this, but when watching a 'catch-up' programme, the machine often cuts to a quite different programme perhaps after about 30 minutes or so, meaning we have to reset the catch-up programme. Finally, finally, the box is smaller than expected (not necessarily a problem), and in my view, it is rather cheap and plasticky in appearance (but then it was cheap).

I am very pleased with my purchase of the refurbished Freeview play recorder to date I already have a Freesat recorder in my lounge which I purchased from new and that is the reason that I had the Freeview recorder as an extra one, They are very good buys in both cases.
