Freeview HD Recorder HDR-1800T 320GB (Refurbished) Reviews

4.2 Rating 335 Reviews
The item was packaged and delivered efficiently. It was reasonably easy to set up with my LG smart tv. Tuning was straightforward. Picture quality is very good although sound lacks some crispness of speech. The user interface is effective but not intuitive, especially regarding the recording, storage and playback menu system. However, the machine has two major flaws not mentioned in the glowing reviews I read before I bought it. 1. Switching off into energy efficient standby mode disables the tv because the aerial input through the Machine is cut off. For practical purposes this has meant splitting the aerial and having a separate fly lead to the tv. 2. The most frustrating feature is however the inability of the tuner to retain HD channels. Some or all HD channels regularly disappear from the menu options and require constant and annoying re-tuning. From internet enquiries, this appears to be a widespread an frequent problem with Humax machines. (In fact a close friend has similar problems with his Humax pvr). I would, of course like the problem solved but it appears from other users that this is an unfortunate consequence of owning this machine. Consequently, I could not recommend it to a friend.

I have today installed the Recorder I was very pleased with the region selection system as we were getting programes from both the North West and Midland regions previously which was not helpful. There feature on this recorder which are not as good as my old Humad Recorder these are Sound Volume and the Programe Menu. The volume is considerably lower and the menu is not as easy to read, other than that I am very pleased with my purchase.

have used Humax PVR s for a long time. always good.any problems have been of My Making. For a unit that usually sits below a TV it would be a help if the connections for Co Ax and HDMI Were angled Upwards. Found some Rt angled Co Ax adaptors on the internet which made connecting easier.

The reason that I bought the HDR-1800 was to replace a Curry "Logic" box bought in 2014. This was in use in a bedroom but was "playing-up". I had bought a new Freesat 1000S on 6 Jan 2014, for the living room. On 17 Aug 2019, I bought a new HDR- 1800 for a bedroom. The ease of use and practicalities of those boxes influenced my decision to buy the latest box. My next decision is to buy a replacement remote control for the Freesat box, as some of the buttons don't have any effect when pressed, unfortunately. My name, by the way, is MALCOLM Dodd.
