“This was a straight replacement for the one whose frequently-used buttons had stopped working, so it does exactly what is required of it.
I had a similar problem with a previous Humax FreeSat box remote (fortunately before the warranty ran out) so I do wonder if Humax has an issue with wear and tear on its remotes. I expect I'll need another one over the lifetime of the product, so there is a little loss of confidence in the product (hence only three stars). But they're not too costly to replace and the delivery was prompt, and the Freeview Play box is very good and worth keeping.”

However, I would question why I needed to resort to buying a new remote after only just over two years (and conveniently out of warranty!). Product robustness, perhaps?
I once had high regard for Humax, having purchased a Fox T2 10 years ago, which gave great service (including a single remote) for 7 years continued use by my family.
When it came to replacement (due to the hard drive glitching), I was happy to replace with a new Humax. Obviously, my brand loyalty was misplaced and robustness of equipment is now a consideration. I would have expected a remote control to be fit-for-purpose and robust, but sadly it has fallen woefully short of expectations.
A cynic would say design obsolescence, but let's just wait and see...”
“I would recommend that you enclose instructions on how to reset the new remote, instead of thinking that it didn't work and having to call Humax to go through the process over the phone. What a waste of everybody's time.”
“I'm kicking myself for not replacing our remote control months ago. No more pressing "soft" and unresponsive buttons - the new remote has a lovely positive feel to it's buttons, with a reassuring click each time. It's fast and does the job perfectly.”
