“I am a type 2 diabetic since about three years ago, and have been enjoying my favourite Sainsburys brown super-seeded bread believing it was suitably good for me. That was until I tried a 10-day blood glucose monitor to see what happens when I eat certain things.
It was quite shocking to see a very high spike after around half an hour of eating it - porridge was another shocker surprisingly along with pot-noodles.
Instantly I started looking for an alternative bread that was edible and found HeyLO. The loaves arrived, and I just had to try it to see if my expectations were true, and it tasted much better than I may have realistically expected, and also held together properly unlike gluten free bread.
I still had the blood glucose monitor on and there was ZERO spiking with this bread - an absolute winner, and I actually like the bread. It is so good and so low in carbs that I haven't even been tempted to try the other breads in the range.
Now I buy this bread regularly in bulk and freeze them to make sure that I never run out.
On another note, my sister-in-law is diabetic and coeliac, so could a low-carb and gluten free bread be developed maybe? There's nothing really out there!”
