Kizer Sheepdog Mini Black Micarta Reviews

4.9 Rating 25 Reviews
Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

The Kizer Sheepdog Mini is superb design from the knife designer and maker Chris Conaway AKA "Sheepdog Knives".
It's a cracking little knife with plenty of attitude and loads of personality! This version has a blackwash blade and a black micarta handle. It is built to use and, of course, features a Sheepsfoot blade. The micarta ensures it will only look better with age and use plus the blade has a cut out for one handed opening.
The blade is non-locking and under 7.6cm (three inches) long making it legal to carry in the UK at the owner's discretion.
The mechanism is precisely made giving a degree of resistance in the open position.

A very nice knife, good build quality and sharp from the box...The slip joint is not as stiff as I would prefer, but it's very easy to open one-handed, and is easy to close...I shall definitely be buying more Kizer knives...The usual top service from HH...

So I've been using this for a little over a month now. After I managed to snap the pocket clip off of my Real Steel Luna (not a fault of the Luna, it was just very bad luck) I was looking for a new UK legal edc.I initially thought I'd just get another Luna as they're great. But then I saw this, and as most of us do, decided I wanted to get an entirely new toy. This is an excellent little knife. Very well made. Quite sharp out of the box. Excellent detent and opening action, and damn near impossible to cut yourself in use as long as you're holding it correctly. It may have just edged out the Luna as my favourite UK edc, and comes in a fair bit cheaper. Whilst I am not generally a fan of stonewashed blades aesthetically speaking, I do appreciate that the pocket clip is also stonewashed, making it extremely discrete. Highly recommended.

This is the best knife I have handled to date. The action is smooth and deploys fast. The micarta provides a nice grip and has a lovely feel in hand. It's a firm favourite and will take a lot to knock off the top spot.

For me the perfect knife geared towards use in the UK. The shape is completely inoffensive, the size is not intimidating, the dark pocket clip and deep carry is very low profile, the pocket clip has a generous depth to it allowing easy use with thicker material pockets (works as well as the wire clips in my opinion). Finger choil blade shape and quick deployment make it very handy and fun to use. The micarta handles are nice looking and plesant to hold. My first knife in 154cm so will see how that goes but so far it has been fine. An absolute bargain for £65

I really like this one. It doesn't need the thumb cut out because it's more comfortable to pinch open then complete opening with a flick of the wrist. However, it's easy to open and close, it's not going to cut you unless you hold it strangely, since there is a blunt section that will contact your fingers if it shuts. The blade geometry, size and profile is perfect for both draw and push cuts, and the size is good for general use. Very solid knife.

Nice little knife. Scales are grippy and god looking. Blade is seriously sharp on arrival and finished in an attractive black. Blade cantering is spot on. Bearings and detents work well. Very Easy to sit there flicking and clicking to disapproving looks and noises from the Mrs. Blade shape is very useable for fine work and slicing up boxes etc.

Comfortable in the hand and in a jeans pocket with a discreet clip. Pleasantly easy to flick open and a secure friction/ slop lock so it feels safe to use. And very sharp or off the box
