Excellent bit of kit, cheap RRP in comparison to its competitors.. Only one thing was that after using it for one week the laser sight wasn't firing straight. Apart from that couldn't fault it.

Having had a Rage hand held circular saw for six years or so, the amount of work it has done ( not easy work either) has been terrific, and still on the same blade. When it came to needing a sliding mitre saw ,it was a no brainer. I bought the rage 255. Build quality is good it was easily assembled,(if you read the instructions that is) The laser guide is very handy in poor light, it is adjustable, so check it. Not done a lot with it yet but it has made a good cut on aluminium and has gone through a few nails . Good value for money .Didn't try any others I would recommend it.

Overall very pleased with this saw, especially considering the price. I've only used it for wood so far but expect it to be perfectly capable of cutting steel and plastic. The crown angle facility will prove useful as I have to put up some coving soon. I enjoy using this saw and often find something to make just as an excuse to do so. The wife will get her shelves up on time now lol. One area for improvement would be the mitre angle location device, its made of plastic and due to flexing allows a small amount of variation in the mitre angle position. However unless you need ultra precise angles this shouldn't be a problem. If you do need ultra precise angles then they can be achieved by taking extra care when setting up. As already stated

Being a joiner I have used many mitre saws over the years and this one rates up there with the best of them, very nice that the blade can handle a few nails as you don't have to worry about destroying it when cutting pre used timber. Build quality not quite as high as more expensive machines (the yellow and blue stuff), but saying that if you look after your tools this machine should last you years and do just as good a job.

Bought for cutting MDF skirting board to replace a non sliding chop saw which has given years of good service and has been passed on to my son Probably not as well manufactured as more expensive mitre saws but once set up with care it cuts accurately and clean. Good value for money. Also bought the accessory pack. The side clamp is useless for thin material like skirting board as it rides too high up the side of the material. The dust bag is a token gesture as it collect very little of the cuttings.
