“Covers way more than just pat testing. Only 4 stars as there wasn't anything covering actual PAT testing equipment and using the tester. It would have been better if it went through the basics eg. Showing how to test class I, class II and cables. Nonetheless quite in depth regarding H&S, risk assessments, legislation etc. Definitely one of the better ones online. Plenty videos on how to use PAT testing equipment on YouTube if that's what you're looking for. I took this course as a refresher as I hadn't PAT tested anything for over 5 years and I have to test the equipment in a small office soon. Glad I did this one.”

“This is a difficult review to write as the course didn’t offer the content I was looking for but would probably do so for someone who needed more detail on prevailing rules and regulations as well as much broader information. Much of the content does not relate to the practical aspects of PAT testing, which is what I was seeking in order to supplement and reinforce the knowledge I already have. Most of the illustrative photos show fixed installations, which are outside the remit of the test, and the text rarely touches on the actual act of carrying out a test. There is no guidance on specific situations like, for example, coping with switched power supplies,which do not like the high voltages delivered by PAT testers, or handling extension leads which contain surge protection circuitry that can ‘skew’ a test. Maybe I should have taken a closer look at the content of the course before enrolling but I took it as a given that there would be much more practical than theoretical content but that anything learned from the latter would be a bonus. So, overall, I don’t feel I improved my practical skills by undertaking this course although I did cover many broader theoretical and legislative aspects of the process so, at least, have the certificate to prove I reached the required standard.”
