“All the strengths and weaknesses of online courses. Positives:Easy to access, clearly written, good explanations, visually interesting. Negatives: can’t be interrogated, not got detail you want, did not meet other people and share experience, no sense that the author had been involved in this work.....case histories limited, examples similarly. Stripped right back to basics.”

“I undertook this online course for update training during Covid 19. I found the content more thorough and detailed than face-to-face training I have had in the past. It was a little dry and as previous reviewers have stated, an occasional video clip would have been welcome and it might have been better to have shorter multiple choice questions at the end of each unit. The multiple choice test at the end assessed whether you had read and absorbed the information, but its focus on dates of legislation and statistics was perhaps less appropriate given the nature of the DSL job. Having said all of this, I am very pleased to have done this course at a fraction of the cost of online training. It represents excellent value and though I have been a senior manager in education for many years, I learned a great deal from doing the course and in spite of my suggestions for improvement I would recommend it highly.”
