“Although the course had some relevant and appropriate content, there were several things that concerned me (as an ex-social worker). - There were some errors in the content (for example a Care Order does not give Parental Responsibility to the Social Worker, it gives it to the Local Authority - a very important distinction). - I felt there was too heavy an emphasis on the negative impact on parents of a referral being made - Whilst this is relevant, Designated Safeguarding professionals can find it difficult to make referrals when they are unsure. The focus needs to be on the need to take action if they have any concerns that a child may be experiencing abuse of any kind. - There was a random insertion of the parental right to appeal a Care Order. This is way down the line and it would be more appropriate to include the right to an advocate, the right to appeal about the decision of a Child protection Conference or information about Legal Aid that could be provided to parents. - The questions in the final test were not fit for purpose (for example Peter Connolly is more commonly known as?/what is self-esteem?). For a Level 3 course I didn't feel the questions appropriately tested knowledge and skills. - Unfortunately, we had similar concerns about your Level 2 Adult Safeguarding course and will be using a different provider next time.”

“A good course but testing one on dates seemed a bit pointless. Also I think the course should get nomenclature right. It states Department of Education in one place when it should say Department FOR Education!”
