The ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik allows the user to move around efficiently in a tree using the classic Prusik pulley system technique. The friction chain provides precision and fluidity when moving around. The pulley is mounted on sealed ball bearings to allow the slack to be taken up easily. It can be used on either doubled ropes or a single rope, providing great versatility. The lower attachment hole is fixed to ensure alignment of the device with the axis of the worker and to optimise grip.Rope feed is smooth and precise thanks to the release lever, allowing the user great control over his/her movements. Adjusting the pressure on this lever controls the speed of movement. The lower attachment hole is fixed to ensure alignment of the device with the axis of the worker and to optimise grip. The Upper attachment hole has a flexible positioning ring that helps keep the connector oriented along its major axis. The ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik is used on either doubled ropes or a single rope, thanks to the CHICANE accessory, which offers more friction on the descent, and the KNEE ASCENT assemblies, which facilitate the ascent.

Amazing contraption, saves so much effort if you're just starting out on knots. Can't be attached midline, but that's an easy enough limitation to plan around. Very good at saving the rope, seems like the lowest impact way of producing friction. Some good videos online also reveal via stress testing that it's stupendously strong, good to about 2 metric tonnes even when old and battered, sometimes outdoing the rope itself, and has a brilliant (maybe unintentional) property of slipping the rope slightly under extreme loads and then grabbing, acting like a clutch to smooth out moments of intense force, hopefully reducing the falling shock on you, the rope and the device. Yeah a bit pricey, but so much better than climbing with knots that I'd categorise mechanical hitches as essential kit, and of the mechanical hitches, this is the cheapest (and a lot smoother to use than the spiderjack imo).

The Zigzag tends so easily on the rope, very smooth to descend, very positive hold on rope when loaded.Would recommend the zigzag plus with swivel built in if you use double rope system.I didn't but have since purchased a separate swivel. Works well easy to use. Great bit of kit.
