Our oven ready suckling pig quarter is a convenient solution for cooking a traditional quarter of Spanish cochinillo from Segovia. It can be cooked in just 2 hours inside a thermoresistant plastic bag, preserving all the properties, flavor, freshness, juiciness, and avoiding the hassle of preparing and knowing how to cook a suckling pig, plus there is no oven cleaning afterwards. Unlike many commercially reared pigs, our piglets remain with their mothers for up to 21 days where they are entirely milk fed. This produces meat with the finest texture and flavor, meat of incomparable flavor and succulence with melt-in-the-mouth crackling. Our oven ready suckling pig quarter is a 2-star Great Taste Award winner in 2017. A suckling pig quarter includes either the front shoulder or back leg plus part of the best-end which includes the loin and ribs.

This was excellent when after cooking in the oven, it was removed from the bag, the salty juices drained and then it was put back in the oven for 15 or so minutes to crisp the crackling - otherwise only 4-Stars. My only suggestion is like the Philippine Cebu sucking pig which is stuffed with fresh herbs etc., (I always do this when cooking my suckling pig quarter at home), some fresh herbs and garlic are added under the rib cage when the pig is packed. I serve with Baby Spinach & sliced fresh beetroot salad and some good Coleslaw.

Not to bad really, think £50 a bit steep for small piece like this, but none the less very enjoyable

As others have declared, this is an amazing treat. Incredibly the skin was crisp despite being roasted in the bag. Effortless way of winning praise at the dinner table!

Fantastic and without two days preparing it. The crackling was great even cooked within the bag as instructed. The meat was mealt in the mouth. Fantastic food after a wintertime walk

What can I say?! Absolutely fantastic! I was a bit concerned by the idea of cooking such beautiful meat inside a bag! But there was no reason at all for any concern. The bag certainly did its job and after the two hours in the oven as per very clear instructions, the result was a very tender, juicy and very tasty meat. And the crackling was amazing, just as I know it! This was a cochinillo that took me back to the times I had it in Segovia! Delicious!! Thank you Basco for making it possible!

This is not the first or second time we've ordered this!!! It's delicious - wonderfully succulent meat, crispy skin - everything you'd expect. And, it's really easy to cook - just follow the clear concise instructions - perfect every time! So nice we're having it for our Christmas meal this year!
