GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Monastrell TASTING NOTES Cherry colour. Ripe berry fruits on the nose with quiet elegance. Full bodied on the palate with intense flavour of roasted fruits and a spicy, vanilla finish with good length. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with chorizo sausage, cured cheese, barbecued meats and hearty stews.

Monastrell is an underrated varietal, which deserves greater recognition. Although, its relative obscurity means good wines often go under the radar. This is one of those good wines and is priced reasonably well. The first notes are very earthy and bold, with Tannins to the fore. There is a dark fruitiness that follows on, with nice acidity and a touch of smokiness. It would be best served with red meats, probably lamb or goat but also enjoyable to drink on its own.

So smooth and tasty, excellent with all tapas dishes but particularly meat and stews.
