Large Carabinero Prawns, also known as Scarlet Shrimp or Cardinal Prawns, are a highly sought-after deep-sea prawn species from the Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Renowned for their jumbo size and striking bright red color, these prawns are appreciated for their robust, distinct flavor. The meat is mainly concentrated in the tail, but the cephalothoraxes (head and body) are not to be overlooked and are excellent for making clear and creamed soups. Carabineros, which translates to 'police' in Spanish, are named for the color of their shells, which resembles the uniforms of Spanish customs police. The red color does not change when cooked, making them a popular choice in professional kitchens worldwide.

What more can be said about Prawns either you don't like them or you love them . Carabiners Prawns not only look delicious with their red colour but when cooked are tender testy treats ,a few minutes cooking brings out a beautiful mouth watering aroma ..Boiling down the shells to make a sweet salty sauce with added cream poured over them or added to dish is pure heaven Carabiner Prawns are large well.packed in ice they arrived still frozen from the packers .in tip top condition

The red Prawns were huge, full of meat and extremely sweet just as how I remembered it from Alicante Spain. Have been recommending to friends and will definitely buy again

Magnificent beasties, full of flavour, with extremely juicy heads. The absolute opposite of cheap, but really pretty decent value, as they're a better flavour than most lobster, and don't forget to brew up the shells for some fab stock.

Very good; first tried these in Lisbon and was blown away. I experimented a bit cooking these and I recommend removing the vein along the back before cooking, also cutting the shell slightly to remove the vein makes eating them easier when they are hot and you are shelling them on your plate. Despite being very well packed they had started to thaw so I recommend getting the delivery for the day you want to eat. Probably good for 2-3 days in fridge.
