Large Carabinero Prawns, also known as Scarlet Shrimp or Cardinal Prawns, are a highly sought-after deep-sea prawn species from the Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. Renowned for their jumbo size and striking bright red color, these prawns are appreciated for their robust, distinct flavor. The meat is mainly concentrated in the tail, but the cephalothoraxes (head and body) are not to be overlooked and are excellent for making clear and creamed soups. Carabineros, which translates to 'police' in Spanish, are named for the color of their shells, which resembles the uniforms of Spanish customs police. The red color does not change when cooked, making them a popular choice in professional kitchens worldwide.

Great experience! The prawns are big, fresh and tasty. The whole family enjoyed them. 1kg contains around 10 prawns.

Ordered and received within 2 days ! Packaged and received frozen as expected. On opening package 10 pieces received, size correct not the biggest but acceptable. Not a 5 score due to medium size. Defrosted a few and pan fried until cooked, on eating shell separated from the meat easily. (Good sign of freshness) In general bright red in color, and fresh robust favor albeit most of the favor was concentrated in their heads

These Large Carabinero prawns are just incredibly tasty and luxurious, no other sea prawns even come close to it in term of the deep rich complex savoury flavours with the most amazing texture, just wait for the prawn head fat caramelisation smell hit the hot iron pan, infused with garlic, butter, and deglazed with a dash of white wine, finished off with freshly ground pepper and chopped parsley, it is just heaven on earth in every sense of the word, seafood these good must be treated with uttermost respect and enjoy every bit of it, lick it clean off the plate, it is an order, I mean it.
