Rios Morcilla de Burgos, Spanish Black Pudding, 350g Vac Pack Reviews

Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

Morcilla de Burgos is a popular Spanish black pudding from Burgos in northern Spain. Originally, rice was added to bulk out the sausage, but its unique flavor became a signature dish. Morcilla de Burgos pairs well with roasted apples and piquillo peppers, but it's versatile enough for experimental chefs to use in various dishes, from pasta to poultry, game to garnish. Despite initial hesitance, Morcilla De Burgos is one of the best black puddings in the world. Each 350g vacuum-sealed sausage should be stored in the refrigerator and defrosted before consumption.

My favourite Spanish black pudding, Morcilla de Burgos is made with rice so when fried the surface takes on a wonderful crunchy texture. Exceptional topped with a scallop and some thinly sliced red piquillo peppers. When in Madrid we also had this Morcilla cooked, broken up into crispy crumbs and added to fried potatoes. Boom, a massive savoury flavour punch as well as extra crunch. I love this stuff

Delicious with a chorizo and a fried egg, with so chunky chips, really loved it.

A welcome change to the sometimes fatty black pudding offered in the UK. The inclusion of rice gives it a different texture and flavour. It will however fall apart if overlooked. I have no hesitation in recommending it, although I have more dishes to try it with, but I am sure it will prove to be a fridge regular.

Tasty as part of a fried breakfast. Will try it in paella next time. Also, the delivery was fast and well packaged with mini sealed ice strips to keep the food fresh. I bought this as part of a selection of meats and cheeses for my husbands birthday and he absolutely loved it. We would both highly recommend Basco for their excellent service.

Cut it in to thick slices and added to a stew. I did read somewhere that it will disintegrate into the stew and add a lovely flavour which it did so be aware that if you don't want it to disintegrate, cook for less time. Slice some as well and had with fried egg. Awesome. Again fry slow and don't fiddle with it like I do as it is very soft. Lovely flavour and will be buying again.
