“It all comes down to taste and this saffron certainly has it. Previously I had bought whatever was in the shop and `made do`, after all I only ever used a pinch of the stuff. Right from the moment I opened the little plastic box the smell was right. It smelled fresh so I knew it would taste fresh.
Best I`ve ever bought.”
“When I started working with saffron the easiest place for me to get it in those days was Tesco. So I suppose the quality of all saffron is graded against that. Incidentally, Tesco saffron isn't bad.
This Spanish saffron was perfectly ok on colouring rice dishes and the like. It gave an adequate colouring and flavour background , if a little course. But in breads like saffron loaf it doesn't cut it and there are better products about for the price. So not as good as Tesco's own brand saffron.”
“We had come to the end of our Spanish-purchased Carmencita saffron and bought your Ruby Finest Select Spanish saffron to replace it. We used it recently in a chickpea, tomato and saffron stew. It has good colour, flavour and aroma. It was perfect. Coincidentally, the dish was accompanied with crusty bread made from flour purchased from you! So, thanks twice over.”
“This was my first time buying anything from Bread bits, while kitting up to make sourdough bread. The selection and quality was perfect. I’m not 100% sure how too use all the beautiful Saffron at this time but meanwhile it looks very pretty in the evening Gin and Tonic.”
